Baffling that the conversation about Christa Pike' botched execution is on the mechanics of killing. "Who is responsible for not killing right?" "Why are we bad at killing?" "How do we kill better?" "Other states kill in one try, why can't we?" Not, maybe we should stop this barbaric practice?

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

When people scream "fraud, waste, abuse!!" about #ForeignAid, I tell them to look at how many billions of dollars the department of defense wastes with little to no accountability. And for the record, the *entire* US #HumanitarianAid budget, prior to 2025, was $10B and had strict accountability.

Ask yourself this: how have institutions that for years have said they face budget shortfalls, deficits, shortages that “required” them to deny faculty lines, fire staff, raise tuition, cut research support, etc. suddenly find the money to pay for outrageously expensive contracts for AI services?

🚨New #OnlineFirst article out with Global Society!🚨 "Ordering Epistemic Diversity in Global Governance: The Case of Climate Change" is by @andreslr.bsky.social It's #OpenAccess, so do click on the link below and give it a read!👇
The knowledge politics of global governance have become increasingly diverse in recent decades through the recognition of culturally specific ways of knowing, often labelled “local”, “traditional”, or “Indigenous” knowledges. Although epistemic authority has become an established concept in International Relations and the sociology of expertise, the question of epistemic diversity remains undertheorised. Prevailing approaches continue to rely on science–policy models that inadequately capture the politics of epistemic diversity. This paper addresses this gap by developing a framework that conceptualises the ordering of knowledge as a process through which authority and diversity are co-constituted. A focus on ordering reorients inquiry towards the production of authorised forms of epistemic difference and its consequences. The argument is developed through an analysis of global climate governance, examining the politics of epistemic diversity within UN governance and transnational Indigenous mobilisation around forest-based policies in Amazonia.

One thing Dems haven't understood, and why they keep losing, is if you say that you're the party that will defend Democracy then you need to actually respect and uphold Democracy. Treating the people with this level of disdain is how you lose.
