This is an old fic, my only Garlic Soup, a chaotic night out with Zheng & Archie. Archie POV, inspired by Spaced, prompt by @mrbuttons284266.bsky.social for @ofmdaction.bsky.social, T, 3k. archiveofourown.org/works/58708438 Podfic by @mystictrashmoon.bsky.social archiveofourown.org/works/62746501

• Throwing Shapes in the Church of Dance
Zuckerbaby_1
Summary:
Archie didn't really get the Zheng thing.
Yes, Zheng was objectively absolutely fucking gorgeous, all giant ponytails and delicately boned hands and such an air of authority Archie found herself acting out just to get Zheng to tell her off. And yes, she was intelligent and articulate and her sense of humour was sly and biting, jokes slipping right under your ribs, and you didn't realise how funny they'd been until those same ribs were aching from laughing.
But most of the time she was so stand-offish, and serious, and Archie wanted to know if she actually knew how to have fun.
Proper fun. Chaotic, shots-in-random-bars, boasting to your grandkids, embarrassing CCTV stills kind of fun.
Archie thought that Jim needed that sort of fun in their life and really couldn't imagine either Oluwande or Zheng bringing the chaos in the way that it needed to be brought.

WIP Wednesday for the time travel fic! Wow less than 48 hours in and Ed's already got those protective instincts 👀

Ed took a cautious step towards the front door, pausing along the way to snatch Stede’s screwdriver up off the coffee table. Wasn’t the sharpest weapon he could’ve grabbed, maybe, but it’d do for a gouge in a pinch.
The banging paused. Ed waited, very still.
One second, two.
Ed’s shoulders began to relax.
And then it started up again. “Stede!” came a muffled shout from the other side of the door. “Stede, are you in there? Open up!”
They sounded British. In Ed’s experience, it usually wasn’t a good sign if the Brits were pounding on your door. Fuck, were battering rams still a thing in this time?
Ed tightened his grip on the screwdriver. If someone was here to attack Stede, they were going to have to go through him first.
The scrape of a key in the lock.
“Okay, I’m officially worried!” the voice called. “I really hope you’re decent because I’m letting myself in.”
The door creaked as it swung open, and the intruder let themself inside. “You’d better not be holed up with some twink in here, because I really don’t think my poor heart-”
Ed pounced.
He pinned the guy to the wall, screwdriver to his throat. “Who the fuck are you, and what do you want?”
The kid—mid-twenties probably, brown hair, sideburns—shrieked, loud enough that Ed winced but didn’t let go. “Oh my god, please don’t hurt me!”
“Hey!” Stede shouted from down the hall, came scurrying on over.
“What on earth is going on out here?” Stede demanded.
Ed faltered, uncertain, but kept his screwdriver pressed to the kid’s throat. Also sorta distracted. Stede had clearly hopped straight out of the shower to see about the commotion; he had on a pink robe, and it was cinched tight at the waist but based on the glint of chest hair where it dipped low at the top, he didn’t have anything on underneath. His hair was tousled and damp and god, Ed felt a little like he’d been hit by one of those bus things.
