Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.

The weird thing about doing a deep clean is that the stuff I always throw out -- old financial docs, admin records, ancient mobile devices -- is also the stuff that historians and archaeologists love to find. Unfortunately, "it will be valuable in 1000 years" is not a good reason to save something.

The book is a sequel to the 2025 cozy science fiction novella Automatic Noodle, set in the near future, “about a labor movement gaining steam in the pneumatic delivery tubes surrounding a robot-run noodle restaurant,” per the publisher.
