Thank you so much to our beautiful crew for a wonderful time! I am always blown away by your kindness & compassion 🥹🏴‍☠️❤️ Thank you for taking care of me, for the joy, laughter & for continuing to be delightfully unhinged. As I’ve said before, I am grateful *every day* for you. #HuntForTheWilderpeople

So I did not meet him, but I managed to get my OFMD flag signed by Taika at the Wilderpeople screening. I wanted to share what he wrote because I think it shows how much he loves Ed, and therefore it is for all of us ❤️ That's the main point, but more details in the thread if you are interested!

Part of a navy blue flag with gold fleur-de-lis symbols. In gold marker is Taika's signature and the words, "To Chloe, Love from Ed AKA Blackbeard. XO"

I'm sorry to those of you who had to see my face at the Wilderpeople screening. Honored (?) to join the crew meetup black eye club with @amladydragonfly.bsky.social. As they correctly said, the Taika/Rhys aura befuddled my mind. I ran headfirst into a glass wall that I did not realize was a wall 🙃

At the Hunt for the Wilderpeople screening, Rhys was answering a question about working with Taika. He said how wonderful it is to work with someone "you really fucking love"

I have been thinking a lot about how when Rhys was saddest about losing OFMD in such a shitty way, he went out on the road and made everyone laugh. Never once punching down, being a little bit sexy, a lot silly. Doing all the voices. If that’s not poison into positivity, I don’t know what is. 🏴‍☠️❤️‍🩹🥰

Seen over on threads. I get so much joy out of seeing people *still* discovering OFMD for the first time. It also reminded me of this OG OFMD tumblr post. We all went in expecting the usual queerbaiting and subtext; instead we got beautifully smacked in the face with gay like Izzy with a sandwich

Screenshot from user nonbinarycreative on threads. The post reads:

I've finally watched Our Flag Means Death, and y'all. I thought the amount of queerness that i've seen about it on the interwebs was just fan fiction / shipping.

No. If anything, it is MORE queer than I had been led to believe.

I love it so much.

A series of posts from tumblr user lazylittle dragon. They read:

maybe it's time i watch the gay pirates

oh this is like GAY gay i thought we were all just fantasising again

i'm not the same person anymore

Honestly, cancellation continues makes me feel ill. We worked So. Freaking. Hard. This introvert was on the phone, sending letters, had a spreadsheet of daily tasks. & We had the #s. The knowledge that there wasn’t anything we could do was really despairing & took a long time to come to terms with.
