last night I watched a movie by a queer filmmaker with a small group of trans people. none of us knew going in it would have fairly intense self-harm imagery; at one point I started cackling and said aloud "I just made you all watch that"

I'm making a documentary about the RLNI situation and I am contacting various organisations. However I thought I'd turn to bluesky as well, I'm looking to interview people either connected to the RNLI, to refugees/those working with refugees and also with counter-protestors. Please share.

The thing about Joyce Carol Oates is she posts like a monkey with a gun. She'll get off five good posts where you're like "Yeah! You tell 'em!" but then the seventh post will have to be an apology for the sixth post accidentally supporting race science or something.

🦇 You want a real compromise from trans people? Promise to restore all the rights we had in 2014 that we don't today. That's it. Just bring us back to where we were. That's the bare fucking minimum. You know what I don't see any libs offering us? The rights that have been taken from us restored.

People no longer share a common reality. It's small wonder everything is broken and seems beyond repair. We have never dealt with the trauma of what happened. Instead, we just keep inflicting damage on each other and the world around us to try and make it go away.

What Dolly taught us is that it is in fact possible to be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams of avarice but still be a fundamentally good person with a strong moral compass, and the only reason more rich people aren't like that is because they don't want to be.

Algorithms killed the spectrum of emotional valences. Everything now is set to 10. Bring back the eyeroll, the exasperated sigh, the hand wave, the shoulder shrug. Some stuff is just mildly annoying or blandly dumb. You don’t need to blow every emotional outburst on the mundane.

It’s important to be clear that the truth value of a subject does not become debatable just because somebody wants to debate. Ether. Wandering wombs. Devils in red heads, the cursed left handed. Flat earth. Phrenology. Humors. Race science. “Debate me bro!” It’s fine for the answer to be: no.
