Watching Life on Mars back in 2006 and my dad earnestly explaining why they didn’t have heating units like that in 1973, they were introduced a bit later. Definitely upended the entire premise of a time travelling police officer in a coma knowing the room couldn’t have been that warm.

Thank you, Wikipedia, for introducing me to Fridtjof Nansen - Nobel Peace Prize winner, groundbreaking zoologist, and the first person to ski cross-country across Greenland; whose picture looks exactly like you'd imagine a guy who makes up his mind to ski across Greenland in the 1800s would look.
Vintage photograph of Fridtjof Nansen staring directly at the viewer, with a thick, curled mustache, short and unruly hair, and a heavy fur coat.

Adding this to the list of ‘Things JD Vance is wrong about’* * It’s one hell of a list.
Segment from the BBC News article:
“Talking with reporters, Vance expressed doubt that the December execution would move forward as planned, saying: "I don't know that that's actually going to happen".
He added, that "if it's through live stream, I'm not going to be watching it". Vance described the actions by former US Army major Nidal Hasan as "the worst terrorist attack on American soil outside of 9/11".
Hasan fatally shot 13 unarmed US soldiers at a base in Texas in 2009, injuring another
32. His execution by firing squad would be the first military execution in more than 60 years.”A table showing the 2-6th deadliest terror attacks in the USA. Oklahoma City bombing is second. The 7th-10th deadliest terrorist attacks. Finally; the Fort Hood shooting shows up, joint 11th.

Just saw someone say that if Starmer was still PM, Labour would have lost this by-election and while I don’t doubt the analysis of his personal popularity, I do feel like they’ve misunderstood the conditions necessary for a by-election to be held in his former seat.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."
