Revisited North to Alaska (1960) tonight. Not one of Duke’s best but, uh, definitely his silliest. The broad humor doesn’t always work but the cast is great (especially Capucine) and even Fabian is tolerable. And man, that’s a really great theme song.

I've been painting.

Painting in the Portuguese azulejo style. The interior panels feature a ship. There’s a border of slave shackles. A plaque at the bottom says ALL PORTUGUESE SHIPS ARE SLAVE SHIPS.

Rewatching Wargames for the first time in decades and wondering why I remember the first scene with Matthew Broderick so clearly. Not just dialogue but also the stage directions? Then I remembered... Ready Player One

Promotional still for the movie Wargames.

I'd like to thank George Lucas, but mostly my father, who helped me look into my question of if Yavin 4 was a real place in 1987* for a lifelong love and respect for the Mayan culture, art and arcitecture. *it took some doing to look this up pre-internet, children. My dad was a real mvp for this.

Scene from Star Wars IV, shot (ironically?) from temple 4 at Tikal.

Close up of the temple of the Jaguar and the temple of masks for his wife (facing each other, forever) (and you think you're a wife guy?) On the left in the star wars shot.

The right temple in the star wars shot. Temple 3 I believe.
Surprise surprise, a major motion picture has better cameras than I do.

Wide shot of all 3 temples that is a nod to the original shot made by George.

Hey Filmsky, which movies have you watched the most times in the span of a year? Easy. GREMLINS 1 and 2. I'd finish GREMLINS, rewind the tape in our 2nd VCR, and start watching GREMLINS 2. When GREMLINS 2 was over, I would swap the tapes and start again. Did that multiple times on weekends.
