Tell Planning Commission to Get Started
Planning Commission will consider a resolution to start implementing the Comprehensive Plan with zoning changes. As a first step, it calls for the commission to immediately start creating 1-2 new zoning districts for the Hub category and the Transition areas that surround Hub. The resolution asks staff to model the zoning changes on proposals made by members of the More Neighbors policy committee. This resolution is important for two reasons: Speed. It would direct planning staff to immediately begin implementing the comprehensive plan with broad reforms, rather than rezone a few small areas at a time at a slow pace. Quality of Reforms. By directing staff to model the reforms on the More Neighbors proposals, the resolution helps ensure that the new zoning districts will remove barriers to housing construction rather than add new ones.
