Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things. Here’s a blurb on what I mean:

Some thoughts:
When using GenAi as a mood board you don't get sources. This means you deprive yourself from knowledge.
You generated a location? You deprived yourself of knowing more about the interesting parts of the world and why things came to be.
Generate an armor or costume? You deprived yourself on real world techniques, function, form and history.
You generated art inspirations? You deprive yourself of learning about artists from history or lock out living ones from potentially being hired.
Ethical issues of using GenAi models aside, one ends up making visuals mood boards devoid of reality and history. With it one deprives themselves from learning about our world and who is living in it, inadvertently making your work weaker, because of how detached it is from our shared human reality and history.

while out hunting for new goodies for my apartment, i came across a painting of a countryside that has a large view of the blue sky and fluffy clouds that look like a colony of bunnies. it got me wistful for when I’d draw this type of majestic scenery often in my fanart. so have some of these again

wangxian meeting in the forests of gusu. they face each other a little ways away, as if just seeing each other. it’s sunny and bright green leaves are above them. wwx is slightly shadowed in the foreground, with little apple there too, though its hard to see him and he becomes part of the nature around them.

wangxian walking through mountains, in the background the mountains become softer and foggy.

lwj walking in yellow grass, a mountain rises behind him, filling up most of the sky.

wwx in the middle of a volcano-like mountain range, the grass turned red from resentment. smoke or fog rises from the jagged edges of the mountain before him. shadowy shapes form a loose circle.

A digital illustration of a teen lwj backed up against a talisman-covered wall, dark figures pointing handguns at him. He is wearing a pale blue waistcoat over white tangzhuang, semi-long hair and large round glasses on his face. Between teenji and the wall is what looks like a emaciated male corpse hanging from ropes by either wrists. The corpse is wearing tattered dark red robes over greyed skin, red ribbon and long hair wild in the wind. Underneath the disarrayed hair his eyes are open, a glowing red eye looking down at teenji backed up against him. His face and bared chest is splattered with blood - the blood is from teenji's injured right arm that is drenched in red.

A digital illustration of wangxian sitting in what looks like a mix between a lounge and a library/archive. Grownup wangxian are sitting in a 'whispering chair' style sofa, lwj facing backwards and wwx facing forwards. Lwj seems to be reading a newspaper while wwx has his legs crossed and leaning flirtatiously towards lwj. Wwx is in a chinese-fusion style outfit, a black slacks, white taozhuang jacket, oxford shoes and a red overcoat with large-brimmed red hat. Lwj seems to be in black slacks and white shirt. Surrounding them are various items, an old-fasioned rifle, a bookshelf full with ancient text, a chinese tea set. Behind them is a large scroll hanging from the wall, depicting an ink painting of wwx in traditional dark robes kneeling in front of a long-haired man in white, holding the man's hand with both of his hand.

Wrestling Au, part two! Posters of the matches.

An Illustration made to look like a promotional poster for a wrestling match.
Text on tope of the image reads : JIANG CHENG VS WEI WUXIAN
YUNMENG HEROES RETIREMENT MATCH
LOSER RETIRES!!
@lilkikibat 2025
In the foreground, a young Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng face off in the middle of a ring, bodies crouched down as if ready to spring. Their outfits resemble each other— like they’re from the same team. Wei Wuxian wears white boots, a red line along the seam of his purple tights and Jiang Cheng wears black boots and lighter shade of purple tights, no red.
Above them in the background, both characters are drawn back to back with bare chests and muscular shoulders. Jiang Cheng’s expression is fierce, and Wei Wuxian’s smile is brave and naive. The light from above casts deep shadows on their bodies and faces.

An Illustration made to look like a promotional poster for a wrestling match.
Text on top of the image reads:
TWIN JADES VS GHOST GENERAL & YILING LAOZU
@lilkikibat 2025
The top half is Lan Wangji’s and Lan Xichen standing together on a royal blue background, looking heroic and wearing matching unitards. The only difference between their outfits is that Lan Xichen’s unitard straps go on top of his tiddies, while Lan Wangji’s drape around his tiddies towards his armpits (listen this is important ok??).
They look off to the right, with Lan Wangji’s expression more stoic and his arms crossed over his chest. Lan Xichen has one arm around his brother, his expression soft and happy, with a wrestling belt triumphantly raised over his other shoulder. He looks like a himbo; I love him.
In the lower half of the illustration, on a red background, Wen Ning and Wei Wuxian feature. Wen Ning is on the left and he has scary looking large chains around his wrists. His hands are balled into fists, which he has raised before him as he yells ferociously. His hair is long, wild, and falling over his eyes. His wrestling uniform isn’t very visible, but he wears deep gray shiny pants and no shirt and appears very very pale.
Beside him on the right, Wei Wuxian is crouched with a leg up and one arm resting on that knee— presumably perched on top of the announcer’s table or the ropes of the ring. His bare chest is glistening with sweat. He looks exhilarated and a little hungry— is he looking at lwj???? His hair is thrown in the wind, looking wild.
Stage lights gleam brightly behind each team.
