22 years ago today, on my 25th birthday, I got a call announcing the birth of my youngest niece. Best birthday present ever. She died last summer and this is our first birthday since her passing. It is a very hard day.

When wealth is passed off as merit, bad luck is seen as bad character. This is how ideologues justify punishing the sick and the poor. But poverty is neither a crime nor a character flaw. Stigmatise those who let people die, not those who struggle to live. — Dr. Sarah Kendzior

There are curled feet out and toebeans and all. But there is a strict 'look but no touch except for clearly designated and pre-approved areas' policy in place.

Trump and RFK Jr.’s nonsense about Tylenol and autism isn’t just about spreading misinformation: it is about dismantling the decades of work that it took to reorient society from fearing autism to focusing on making the world more welcoming to #ActuallyAutistic people. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

I, for one, am shocked that giving people money when they don’t have money solves the problems caused by them not having money

She's quite pretty. We're developing routines together. She's made progress training me, too.

Bingewatching Ghost Whisperer and one of last night's episodes was a supercringy one about an autistic ghost and I have to keep reminding myself it was filmed at least 20 years ago.

@annmemmott.bsky.social Did you hear about the research saying autism is more common in people with more Neanderthal DNA? And people running with it and going 'Autism is caused by being more Neanderthal'?

So on Friday I went back to the shelter to adopt a six year old cat that had been there for months because she avoided humans like the plague and beat up other cats. Within 24 hours I have a total cuddlebug of a cat who is slowly taking over my home in the most adorable way.

@gregjenner.bsky.social so there's this study that says autism is more common in people with Neanderthal DNA. It suggests 'Neanderthal' traits are, well, more autistic. I've almost finished your book and it seems historians aren't even in agreement on 'Neanderthal traits'. 🤷

I have a little house guest. He arrived on Monday and will be picked up on Friday. He's a very polite and considerate gentleman, who has warmed up to his temporary lodgings and seems satisfied with the staff.
A mostly white tabby cat is laying on a sofa, with his front paws on his hosts knee to request more cuddles.
