"Bro is literally robbing poor women"
/hat have you seen, heard, or read about Roger Marshall over the last few weeks? (Among those who say it's made them feel less favorable toward him.)
"He sent people to prison for medical debt. He was shouted down at a public speaking event."
"He arrests people for $50."
"I read an article in national news about him suing patients and some getting arrested over as little as $50. Most all were young mothers or pregnant women."
"That he sends delinquent patients to jail. That he does whatever Trump tells him to do."
"That he had his [redacted] handed to him at the State Fair, and maybe if he would listen to the people he represents, he would know how angry they are with him."
"I didn't think it was possible for me to think less of that horrible woman-hating, intellectually lazy fool, but seeing that he mercilessly attacked 700 patients with lawsuits, sheriffs, and 18% collections interestis disgusting."
"Total scumbag, fake Kansan, sued those innocent people, ruining the lives of our neighbors."
"Bro is literally robbing poor women."
"Collecting bills from a poor woman who apparently gave birth and then had her arrested for nonpayment. People should pay their bills, but some people are simply unable to. And he is charging something like 16% on the balance, which is ridiculous. I just do not think he is the right person for the position. I do not think he is [sic] done a good job for Kansas or provided the support that Kansas needs."

a little louder for the cheap seats in the back
One of the biggest myths is that men rape by mistake. Like, "Oh, they need consent training." But research is very clear: Sexual violence is not a mistake. It is an intentionally made decision by people who know they don't have consent. They just don't prioritize consent over things like status, power, domination, and sexual gratification.
For my research, I got a certificate of confidentiality from the National Institutes of Health, so my notes couldn't be subpoenaed. One of the reasons I call them perpetrators in my work is because every single person I interviewed confessed in that context. The first question I would ask them was, "When you received that email from Title IX that you were under investigation, did you know what it was about?" Every perpetrator I interviewed said "yes." If sexual assault were a miscommunication, you would be wondering, What have I possibly done wrong? That is not the way that any of them reacted because they knew.

In addition to spending less money and making fewer new grants, SBE also dramatically narrowed where it made those new grants. Areas such as economics, sociology, and archaeology received few to no grants.
Grantmaking gutted
The National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) awarded far fewer new awards than typical in fiscal year 2026—just 91. (The fiscal year runs from 1 October to 30 September.) Most of the new grants focused on cognitive science and artificial intelligence, in alignment with White House priorities; offices that support fields such as economics, sociology, and research ethics, as well as postdoctoral fellowships, awarded no grants at all.

Chart showing total net USCIS immigration application backlog, from Q4 Fiscal Year 2023 through Q3 Fiscal Year 2026. The data shows backlogs were slowly dropping from net 4.3 million applications in Q4 FY 2023 to 3.8 million in Q3 FY 2024, after which applications began to rise again, increasingly every single month until Q3 FY 2026, where they stand at 7.7 million.
