…my god we’ll never have draft picks again

Ok, Adam Silver. That’s definitely something for blatant cap circumvention.

Peyton Watson is a perfectly cromulent player for the Bucks to target.

Maxey/VJ/Brown/LeBron/Embiid (for ~40 games) I get it.

The NBA just announced their Las Vegas Summer League 1st and 2nd teams. Brayden Burries made First Team! Hooray! It also made me think about who has made it to those teams in the past…and was never really heard from again. Let’s go back…

I’m not saying that the GTJ contract is a good deal. I’m not saying that he should have gotten 4/64, and I’m certainly not saying that a handshake deal should have been kept, given the completely different circumstances. But I am saying that folks were generally happy about the return for GA, so…

The Bucks aren’t good, sure, but 4/64 is *so goddamn much* Gary Trent Jr. We have guards! We don’t need another guard!

Probably the most important thing driving NBA decision-making right now. Contract growth is mostly outpacing cap growth when it was expected to be the other way around.

Goddammit I wasn’t ready for a Giannis-Jim Paschke interview Pack it up, my day is over.

That’s great value for a second-draft guy like Dieng. He might be an NBA wing with a pulse. He might not develop at all. Low risk, high reward for all involved!

NBA free agency should be a worldwide holiday.

Giannis leaving the Bucks sucks for a lot of reasons; the one that bothers me the most is that now we all have to admit that the GA/Milwaukee Bucks relationship wasn’t ✨ special ✨ enough. Steph/GSW. Dirk/DAL. Kobe/LAL (but they got awfully close!). Those pairings are all just different.

Meanwhile, the 2026-27 Milwaukee Bucks are now kicking off the *gulp* Post-Giannis Era. It’s gonna get wayyyyy worse before it gets better.

Giannis Antetokounmpo gave 13 years to the Milwaukee Bucks, brought home a title and is one of the people most responsible for Milwaukee retaining an NBA team. I will always appreciate that. The rest of his playing days, from here on out? We’ll see.

Mitchell Maurer @mitchellnba.bsky.social · 23/06/2026

I’m not even mad. I’m just disappointed. Giannis wants what he wants. Can’t change that. Just…ugh. At least 2071 isn’t that far away!

It is time once again to discuss the Most Dad Things we have done in the past year. A couple of reminders: - gender is a social construct, anyone can do Dad Things - you need not be a parent to do a Dad Thing - the definition of a Dad Thing is entirely subjective and maybe made up I’ll go first:

Giannis is gonna stay in Milwaukee and sign an extension with the Bucks and the front office is going to put together a significant roster upgrade in the offseason. Don’t ask me how I know.

I recall how thrilled I was in 2021 when the Bucks pulled it out, and there were tons of other Bucks fans sharing that joy. New York is way bigger of a fanbase and NYC is a bball city. Good for them, for the real ones.

This seems like a convoluted solution that will draw more general attention but is absolutely going to screw some bad teams (read: Sacramento) and keep them bad for longer. I am anything but enthused.
