The Kalshi thing was absolutely a “wait…” moment for me, a still-current Giannis-stan but a decidedly less-enthusiastic one, now.

…my god we’ll never have draft picks again

Ok, Adam Silver. That’s definitely something for blatant cap circumvention.

Peyton Watson is a perfectly cromulent player for the Bucks to target.

Maxey/VJ/Brown/LeBron/Embiid (for ~40 games) I get it.

So I guess that means you can give dudes who show out at Vegas 3-4 years before you expect them to become a quality starter. So, start your clocks for Burries I guess!

2021 1st team: • Cam Thomas, Brooklyn Nets (again?!) • Davion Mitchell, Sacramento Kings • Jalen Johnson, Atlanta Hawks • Trey Murphy III, New Orleans Pelicans • Payton Pritchard, Boston Celtics • Jalen Smith, Phoenix Suns • Obi Toppin, New York Knicks OK clearly there are some guys in this group…

2022 1st team: • Tari Eason, Houston Rockets • Quentin Grimes, New York Knicks • Sandro Mamukelashvili, Milwaukee Bucks • Keegan Murray, Sacramento Kings • Cam Thomas, Brooklyn Nets Legitimately, who’s the best on this list: Murray or Mamu? I don’t know!

(We have to go back a few years to be fair and give enough time for some of these guys to have a chance.) 2023 1st team: • Keyonte George, Utah Jazz • Sam Merrill, Cleveland Cavaliers • Orlando Robinson, Miami Heat • Hunter Tyson, Denver Nuggets • Cam Whitmore, Houston Rockets 2 out of 5: who?!

The NBA just announced their Las Vegas Summer League 1st and 2nd teams. Brayden Burries made First Team! Hooray! It also made me think about who has made it to those teams in the past…and was never really heard from again. Let’s go back…

I’m not saying that the GTJ contract is a good deal. I’m not saying that he should have gotten 4/64, and I’m certainly not saying that a handshake deal should have been kept, given the completely different circumstances. But I am saying that folks were generally happy about the return for GA, so…

$16 Ms a year definitely counts against the cap, goddamn 😬😮‍💨🫠

Mitchell Maurer @mitchellnba.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

The Bucks aren’t good, sure, but 4/64 is *so goddamn much* Gary Trent Jr. We have guards! We don’t need another guard!

Probably the most important thing driving NBA decision-making right now. Contract growth is mostly outpacing cap growth when it was expected to be the other way around.

That’s great value for a second-draft guy like Dieng. He might be an NBA wing with a pulse. He might not develop at all. Low risk, high reward for all involved!
