Does ranked choice voting help Democrats or Republicans? Neither. Ranked choice voting is totally party-neutral. Republicans & Democrats have won #RankedChoiceVoting elections across the country. RCV simply makes sure candidates need support from a majority of voters to win.

On August 25, South Carolina Republicans will vote in a runoff to pick a nominee to replace the late Senator Lindsey Graham. It's the 4th statewide SC GOP primary this summer, 2 of them being runoffs. Ranked choice voting elects majority-supported nominees w/o costly, low-turnout runoffs.
