This could be fake but I saw a video that said you can put something that smells like a new food flavour under the bowl or on the food and they will eat. Might be worth a try

🧠Not related to #LC but fascinating article in The New Scientist about how pressure on the shin bone eases traumatic brain injury through the bone-brain axis. And how it might be beneficial for those who can't exercise. 🖇️👇

When we point and laugh at fascists for being 'ugly' we are ourselves buying into and replicating their worldview. We are saying, 'yes, you can abuse people for looking a certain way'. And I reject that fully.

There is a difference between critiquing a standard of 'beauty' that upholds and replicates white supremacy and making fun of people who have had "bad work" done. You can do the first without doing the latter.

The only way to fix this is outside the job, by rearranging power relationships. Collective action (not just unions), anti-trust, tax policy, consumer advocacy*, etc. *UX influence is predicated on user/customer leverage.

I'd be fine with people not publicly commenting on anyone's looks, period. I think you're making a lot of judgments and assumptions about people's inner lives as they 'inflict' looksmaxxing on themselves. If you want to stigmatise them, go ahead. I'm not into it.

I don't think the distinction you're describing is that clear cut. And I don't think making fun of people for being "ugly" or "weird looking" or "freakish" can ever be liberatory if what we want to achieve is less ableism, less white supremacy and less hierarchical social order.

a little louder for the cheap seats in the back
One of the biggest myths is that men rape by mistake. Like, "Oh, they need consent training." But research is very clear: Sexual violence is not a mistake. It is an intentionally made decision by people who know they don't have consent. They just don't prioritize consent over things like status, power, domination, and sexual gratification.
For my research, I got a certificate of confidentiality from the National Institutes of Health, so my notes couldn't be subpoenaed. One of the reasons I call them perpetrators in my work is because every single person I interviewed confessed in that context. The first question I would ask them was, "When you received that email from Title IX that you were under investigation, did you know what it was about?" Every perpetrator I interviewed said "yes." If sexual assault were a miscommunication, you would be wondering, What have I possibly done wrong? That is not the way that any of them reacted because they knew.

Well the potential upside is that I can't go on meds until my tubo-ovarian abscess is dealt with because a suppressed immune system + abscess = sepsis 💀 So maybe the rheum can convince the hospital to expedite my surgery. Or maybe I'll just die lol

I have psoriatic. It came on so fast, like overnight in July. I had to take three weeks to rest and it made no difference. I felt exactly as rotten after three weeks of sleep as I'd started. Exhaustion is far and away the worst symptom, it's as bad as post viral fatigue. Worse, actually.

I've experienced a few different flavours of fatigue over the last few years. Anaemia fatigue (tight chest, no strength). Post viral fatigue (broken battery, cells dying). Ovarian abscess fatigue (foggy, tired, no brain). But this, this arthritis fatigue is the worst. THE WORST. I never feel ok.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Do you know what, I actually think we should fucking sue the NHS at this point. CBT can be harmful to patients. It can cause more harm to people who have complex trauma or even just regular trauma. I'm so sick of this shit, its just the same study again and again until we all die

Note how the focus is on treatments, biology, education, social support, and impact. Not coping strategies whilst your debilitating disease gets no proper help I was involved in this research and people wanted proper medical help not therapy
The top ten research priorities for problematic menstrual bleeding in the UK and Ireland
1
What new treatments can be developed to address problematic menstrual bleeding, including options that do not affect fertility, are non-invasive, have minimal side-effects, and which treat the cause of the problematic bleeding?
2
What are the biological causes or contributing factors for problematic menstrual bleeding? For example, hormonal (including those not typically considered sex hormones), genetic, inflammatory, or other factors
3
What are the potential health effects of problematic menstrual bleeding, such as effects on iron concentrations, energy levels, bowel function, and risk of diseases (such as cancer and cardiovascular disease)?4.
What are the most effective, least invasive tests (such as blood tests or scans) to investigate the causes of problematic menstrual bleeding? How could these tests be improved?
5
How does problematic menstrual bleeding affect employment and education? How can school and workplace policies be improved to better support students and staff who experience problematic menstrual bleeding?
6
What are the best ways to educate young people and members of the public about problematic menstrual bleeding at different ages? How can knowledge and awareness be raised about what is in the normal or healthy range, what is problem7
What are people's experiences when seeking health care for problematic menstrual bleeding? How often are their concerns dismissed and what changes could improve these health-care experiences?
8
What are the best ways to train health-care professionals about problematic menstrual bleeding, including about what is in the normal or healthy range and what is problematic or unhealthy? How does training affect provider attitudes and patient experiences?
9
What are the best treatments currently available for problematic menstrual bleeding at different ages, in terms of effectiveness, user preferences, and cost-effectiveness? What are the long-term and short-term side-effects and safety of these?
10
Do treatments for problematic menstrual bleeding work differently for different people? Are there ways to predict how people will respond to a particular treatment?
