The Supreme Court just weakened agency independence. But as @elizabethwwilkins.bsky.social, @nhegde.bsky.social, and @millennialdebt.bsky.social argue, the core crisis is that these agencies consistently side with corporations over workers. “The long-overdue answer to this crisis is court reform.”

The Trump administration: - more expensive food - reckless violence against people at home and abroad - higher gas prices And now? The Trump Education Department is celebrating that federal student loan bills are about to restart—even though millions of borrowers can barely make rent.

@edsecmcmahon.govpeeps.us just made sure that the last contact that 7 million people have with Trump before the midterms is a bill from @MOHELA. Borrowers don't care how many times you call SAVE "illegal." They now know they will pay *a lot more* thanks to Trump. And then vote accordingly.

This is an interesting and at times frustrating piece from @noamscheiber.bsky.social. I think his thesis is right: economic insecurity among college grads to a degree that we've never seen is scrambling politics. What's missing is a sharper diagnosis of why. It's not just wages, its debt.

The DC Cir majority lifts the ban on firing CFPB staff bc there was “no…statement, written or oral, purporting to shut down the CFPB” & noting the gov’t “does not claim the power to ‘shut down’ the CFPB.” But then AG Bondi tweets out: actually, that’s been the plan all along! x.com/agpambondi/s...
Tweet from AG Pamela Bondi reading:

“Another victory for President Trump!

In a 2-1 ruling, the DC Circuit sided with my @TheJusticeDept attorneys in our effort to dismantle the CFPB and rein in crippling Obama-era regulations.

We will continue to pursue the President’s deregulation efforts.”

This year, the @CFPB permanently banned student loan giant Navient from the federal student loan market and returned $100 million to harmed borrowers. The lesson? Borrower voices combined with public enforcement can be harnessed to drive systemic change!

I’ve had thousands of students in the classroom and who I’ve advised. Most students are taking out loans to survive. How the fuck can it be ok to bail out big banks but not students? This court is insane.
