My statement in reaction to ICE abducting a community member out of their car in Roslindale Square earlier today.

Persis's Statement:
I am outraged by reports that ICE kidnapped one of our neighbors in Roslindale Square earlier today. ICE’s presence in our communities does not make us safer—it spreads fear and tears families apart. Our neighbors deserve to shop, go to school, and worship without the constant threat of being taken off the street. I am deeply grateful to the LUCE Network and the community organizations stepping up to support this individual. I call on the federal government to get ICE out of Massachusetts, and on the Massachusetts Legislature to immediately pass legislation that protects our communities and keeps our neighbors safe.
