I learnt what "Greenwich Lightvessel" was from this map. It's nowhere near Greenwich! (and is 0.0015949º west of Greenwich according to OpenStreetMap)

There isn't a day goes by where I don't find another way to despise Microsoft. Did you know that when you install Minecraft Java Edition, it's not available to all accounts on the PC? Only the person who installed it is allowed to run it.

I'm sad to report that the bike lane in Ealing Broadway is closed temporarily while work is undertaken. Normal parking will resume as soon as possible.
Works teams are required to put up a "cycle lane closed" sign when they block the cycle lane (which any other time is blocked anyway by parked cars)

It's one of the absolute pinnacles of the art form, both this final series and the whole great tapestry of it. It is both a fantastic bit of social history and also in of itself an item of social history, and it happened in a lot of ways by accident and serendipity.

I've always wondered where this photo was taken. Can anyone help identify it? Almost certainly somewhere in the Swiss Alps near Luzern, maybe Pilatus, though I don't recognise it.
A black and white photo of two hikers sitting on a grassy meadow up a mountain, with mountains in the background, and possibly a cable car or mountain railway station (or just a mountain hut) in the background.

The reason why so many 'cycling campaigners' are up in arms about the latest attacks on cycling & floating bus stops are simple... 1. Now do cars. Seriously, if you want to discuss road danger, making a more inclusive environment for pedestrians, then I've got some side roads & zebras to point at...

My son got a Windows gaming PC for Christmas. We quickly purchased Minecraft Bedrock and Java Editions and installed it and he's regularly played Bedrock Edition. You'd think he'd just as easily be able to play Java Edition as the name of the purchase implied it was included. But it won't run.

Is there some backstory to why the official photo of the Swiss Federal Council has so many bystanders busy in the background? The person adjusting the curtains, the reflection of the photographic team and their equipment in the mirror, and someone using a computer in the next room?
The official photo of the Swiss Federal Council (downloaded from Wikipedia), the Chancellor and the seven ministers standing or seated facing the camera in an ornate room with several other people visible as part of the photoshoot.

This is very sweet from @roberthutton.co.uk - how the Abbey National ended up writing back to correspondence for Sherlock Holmes after they moved into 221B Baker Street www.ft.com/content/004c...
that the Abbey Road Building Society built its new headquarters from 219-229 Baker Street, a block that effectively included 221B. In 1935, the first letter arrived.
The bank decided that letters to Holmes should get replies and, in a light-hearted decision that would have long-lasting consequences, opted to play along. A correspondence secretary would explain to writers that, as explained in the books, Mr Holmes had retired to Sussex. The letters began to flood in and continued for decades.
There were invitations to speak, requests for signatures and, of course, pleas for help in solving crimes. They continue to this day,

STEAK BAKE! Facebook is having a normal one. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...
An AI generated image of Parliament Square with a man in a red baseball cap with "CHRIST IS MY KING" riding a Lion whose coat and mane is coloured in the Union Flag and who is breathing fire at a group entirely female and with dyed hair and shirts with slogans like "They/Them", "Be Kind", the XR logo, and "There is no Planet B", oh and a cyclist too, presumably all representing the tofu eating wokerati. Behind them all is a crowd entirely made up of shouting bald men with placards reading "Get out of my hole", "Steak Bake" and "_17_ Million _Man March_". In the background, a red double decker bus is passiung through, route 53 to Whitehall, with an ad reading "UST AV A BREXIT INNIT" on the side.
Impressively, the rendition of the Palace of Westminster is perfect, the Union flags are illustrated the correct way up, though there are some buildings missing from the northeast corner of Parliament Square.

Is it anti semitic to compare the Jewish leader of the council to Nazi collaborators, because you disagree with them? It feels a deeply insulting accusation to me. There's a lot of talk about kids being radicalised online and not enough about older people being likewise impacted.
A screenshot from the Ealing Today forum saying:
"In World War Two, in Nazi occupied Poland, I can imagine Peter Mason being a Chaim Rumkowski type collaborator with the Nazis. Chaim Mordechaj Rumkowski was the head of the Jewish Council of Elders in the Łódź Ghetto appointed by Nazi Germany during the German occupation of Poland. Peter Mason it seems just wants to be number one above all else, just like Chaim Rumkowski was."

What steps do the food delivery companies take to ensure their riders are working safely and using legal vehicles? On Wednesday I saw a Deliveroo rider ride his illegal motorbike onto the narrow 1.5m pavement at this blind corner to jump a red light.
A signalised junction with the main road proceeding ahead, and a B road crossing left-to-right. There's a pedestrian crossing across the carriageway just in front of the camera location, and another across the junction to the left and a very narrow ~1.5m pavement on the closest corner on the left, around a shop.
