Concept designer and illustrator behind many of your favorite LEGO themes and games from decades past. Somehow I also made the old Roblox logo, and BrikWars. I don't know, I can't explain it either. mikerayhawk.com brikwars.com

Sorry it literally burns an entire generation of game developers to ash to make one (1) game like Baldurs Gate 3, and then the whole industry passes into the west like the elves.

We used to discuss reasons why each generation latched onto whichever fantasy. Unicorns and dragons in the greed-obsessed eighties, vampires in the subculture nineties, angels after 9/11, etc. Nothing in the 2020s makes a fantasy of decrepit old men hoarding world-altering power feel thrilling.

It's so hard to get back to a normal perception of what is possible to achieve in a time period when your attitude is ' all or nothing/every waking moment is for work' , like life ruiningly so. One of the things I've had to painfully re-learn is the idea that small things can build up/ matter

disco elysium does a good job of filtering out the 'alpine witch' cozy crowd by showing us, before anything else, a mostly nude bloated alcoholic man groaning to himself on the floor. and also you have to be him, and also if you do a bad job of grabbing your necktie off the ceiling fan then your heart gives out and you get a game over. like it's such a beautiful and intelligent game, but I wonder if part of the universal praise it gets is from that highly vocal section of the populace getting yucked out at the start. or maybe I'm just stupid and overthinking things

this is why Dream Daddy got cancelled for having a canned halloween plotline, while in Disco Elysium you get to walk around in a jacket with piss f*ggot sprayed on the back and everyone loves it (rightfully, it's a really good jacket)

Time to layout the rulebook for Dragon Pizza
OUR HISTORY
Once the great dragons reigned over the earth, delighting in cruelty and avarice. Many nations tried to break them; each was broken in turn. But these pieces were brought together, and a great coalition at last scattered the great houses, beginning the Age of the Free Lands.

The dragons did not return until they had been forgotten. The memories of men are short, and what are a few centuries to the patience of a dragon? In that time, they reflected on their crimes, and what their vices had cost them. They will not make such mistakes again. This is not a time for banners and bloodshed; this is a time for mascots and synergies.

They will not rule as great houses. They will be brands.
COMPONENTS (pictured): 2 Dragons, 2 Heroes, and 6 Discs in each color; 4 Cows, 4 Wood, 4 Stone (one for each player); The Pig of Time

Why young people hate AI even more?
Lincoln Michel

The industry is incapable of any self-reflection, but it should be obvious why this would be the case. Older gens saw Big Tech innovations that changed people's daily lives for the better and/or were at least mixed bags. Personal computers, internet, mp3 players, smart phones, etc. Someone who is 18 has seen.... what? NFT scams and crypto rug pulls. Web 3.0 hype that went nowhere. Gig economy apps that exploit workers and still charge too much for poor service. Zuckerberg's metaverse. A bunch of crap that massively enriched some billionaires without seeming to improve people's lives. Why should any young person look at big tech companies hyping GenAI—who were all pushing metaverse/crypto/etc. a few years ago—and think it would help them?
