Despite what happened, I generally like the 3-game wildcard series. It's tense. It put clear stakes on seeding for the last couple weeks. It highlights home field advantage in a fun way. And I can look at the context of a 2 game slump from Pete or Bregman and shrug. But a lot of people can't.

What a season by PCA. The double-edged sword is that when you are the best player in baseball and you have a personality like Pete's, everyone non-Cubs fan HATES him. And that's fine. He's created that persona and seems to relish in it. But still sucks to see comments like "that's your mvp lol?"

I also have major concerns about the Cubs' training staff. The amount of injury time that got extended while guys were already injured is kind of bonkers. Steele, Boyd, Brown, Cabrera all had mid-injury setbacks. Shit happens, but that's bad

That said, I am pretty tired of Jed Hoyer's apparent philosophy on pitching. He loves to tinker around the edges and find these potential reclamation projects or guys "ready to take a leap." To say Edward Cabrera had massive upside was always a stretch.
