Well, that's the same as the road signs north of Bolzano, Italy, that say "Alto Adige" (fountward Adige, the river) in Italian, and "Sud Tirol" (South Tirolo, the Austrian region) in German. I guess it can be quite common in bilingual border territories.

A longish post which goes beyond the description of the heroic pause. This message is my takeaway
Screen shot from the post linked below. Text reads:
So here's how I would urge you all to celebrate Stanislav Petrov Day this year. Remember the example of the man who disobeyed orders to ignore what the cutting-edge computer system was telling him to do, and saved untold millions of lives in the process. Whatever an Al is telling you, whether it's a warning of a national security threat or a business efficiency" recommendation or healthcare "cost-saving" or personal "communication tips," do not trust it unreservedly. Do not let yourself become a meat-puppet for unthinking software because it's easier in the short run. Do not take irreversible actions, especially actions putting life at risk, due to AI guidance.

Disobey, always, rather than do something barbarous.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

My basic question for people critical of Al's climate impacts is: There's a product that 1 billion people are using weekly (and let's say another 1 billion people hate). How much is a reasonable amount for that product to emit? What are the general rules you're using to decide?

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green are outside, as Green frowns at an unwelcome noise.
Green: Ugh, someone's watching videos on full volume.

Green turns to Blue, who calmly hands him a pair of earbuds.
Green: Do you have my spare earbuds?
Blue: Here.

Taking the earbuds, Green starts swinging them by the end of the wire like a slungshot. As he lets them loose, they hit the video-watching stranger on the back of the head with enough force to startle them and drop the phone.
