the real problem is that teams are directed to not spend or trade away players who could be otherwise under team control for a long time (e.g. "cost effective" in their opinion) so then all the other teams aren't as aggressive w trade packages. so it goes back to the other 29 teams imo. 3/3

Had to look up who was calling this game after that second reference. Darren Fletcher is the name and he called the London MLB game in 2024 apparently. And he said during an earlier match that he went to the Royals/Rays game in Kansas City recently.

As was the case with those Tampa Bay Rays players who, several years ago, tore the rainbow logos off their caps and jerseys in protest to the team's Pride Night, and as as was the case with Kershaw last year, I expect nothing to happen to Roupp, Brubaker, Walker and Hentges. This despite the fact that there is actually a rule on the books which prohibit players from writing such messages on their uniforms. This despite the fact that if, instead of Pride caps, a player wrote words of protest on one of the American flag or camouflage-themed caps teams wear a few times a season, he'd be put on blast by everyone in the country and would become a pariah. By looking the other way now, however, the league and the Giants are saying that homophobia is OK by them.

It sucks all around. It makes it extraordinarily hard to give a shit about any of these dudes or the institutions which give them a free pass for this kind of crap.

Fix your hearts or die, ballplayers. I'd prefer the former option but I'd be fine with the latter if that's what you'd prefer.
