I hope on Sept. 9th we consider the millions of cool & also uncool people who live their lives with this diagnosis, & not just the posters of pregnant bodies in liquor stores. Because individuals with FASD deserve dignity & support, & parents of these individuals deserve to live without shame. (5/6)

FASD can and DOES happen to anyone. People with FASD can and DO thrive, and they can get married, and have kids, and get divorced, and go to school and change careers and write books and go vote and make art and do research and share their stories every goddamn day. (4/)

Prevention also does nothing to break down the stigma that keeps families from seeking diagnoses, & organisations from saying they can't support kids with these complex profiles. Most pregnancies in Canada are unplanned. The majority of Canadians consume alcohol. (3/)
