This is one of the most basic features of a political party: publish a daily newspaper. Not a partisan newsletter. A whole fully functioning paper with a sports section and an arts section and everything. Something people want to read every single day. Dems? Nope. They don’t even try.

Congress has the power to do pretty much whatever it wants with the Supreme Court. It can expand the membership of the court, and it can punish it in several ways too. We simply need to fill that Congress with a Democratic majority that has the will to use that power.

The NY Times uses words like “fierce,” “steely,” “nimble” and “homegrown star of the Trump White House” to describe Karoline Leavitt, who just got a Fox News gig. Not a single mention of her relentless lying to the American public. Reporter Michael M. Grynbaum and his editors suck.

The fact that the president of the United States and his party are engaged in a full-on assault on the constitutional order, that they will obviously continue to search for ways to subvert the election process, is a reminder of how far away from a stable democracy America currently is.

I'm a little less tolerant of the idea there might be some cases where a death sentence is theoretically justified. I'm an absolutist on this issue.

Again, <only Republicans> ever get to talk like this. If a single municipal level Democrat ever did, it would be a national outrage &spark a wave of “civility” discourse, & op-eds about how Dems must Respect Real Folkz & talk across difference. Democracy is incompatible with this double standard.

The New York Times has a choice of whether to cover Trumpism as A) an amusing and colorful example of the oddity of American politics, or B) an existential threat to the future of everyone you know and love. Over and over, they choose A. They trivialize themselves.

Senate Dems should absolutely do it anyway, but they have to be crystal clear that this is about protecting the Constitution, and not setting up the expectation Trump will leave office. Similarly, the language of the BBB will take effort to unwind, and we need to make sure House Dems stay ON this.

This kind of take made a Rolling Stone writer so mad they wrote a whole piece about it.
At this point, though, if someone contends they've never even heard of
"Choosin' Texas" or Langley, it may say more about the listener than the song.
Or, for that matter, what they want to project to the world. With incessant news coverage alongside chart and playlist presence, it's pretty difficult to still claim total ignorance on this one.
Perhaps there is a deeper reason why people say they haven't heard the song and feel the need to make it known: cultural cachet.
