I was at a pub on Sunday and at one stage both of the 60ish guys at the table next to us were simultaneously playing different songs over their phone speakers 🫠

New post: "Drowning in slop" Large parts of the state are being increasingly overwhelmed with complaints, appeals, objections.... written by AI. It's gumming up every process. Britain is particularly vulnerable. How bad has it got and what can we do about it? samf.substack.com/p/drowning-i...

I think if Paul Thomas Anderson can successfully adapt Pynchon’s Vineland then anything is possible. I demand a recursive Hexwood series. An eight -episode adaptation of Eight Days of Luke. Etc

I’ve only read People Love Dead Jews and found it very … impactful I guess. But good to hear critical views as well so thank you.

Unpopular opinion apparently but I don’t think you should let your dog sit and/or put its face or feet on the table at a restaurant!

hmmm do we think maybe there's been some cheapening of the framework around genocide here if it can encompass the pro-Palestinian mayor of New York City.

“You think we’re getting a little too close to Meta?” [John Georges, co-owner of Georges Media Group, the state’s largest media organization and parent company of the state’s largest newspaper, The Times-Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate], asked. “I’m not afraid of the sun. You know — Icarus? I’ll get as close to the sun as I can.”

Went to get my flu shot and the pharmacist was like “You live with someone who’s immunocompromised, right?” I started to correct him and he interrupted me and said, “No, you do, which means you qualify for a free shot.” Thank you sir, of course, you are correct.

For those in England & Wales who don’t get them on the NHS: private flu & covid jabs are available from today. I’ve just had both at my local pharmacy. £115 for the pair. Yes, that’s expensive, but if you’re a freelancer & don’t get sick pay it’s probably a lot cheaper than taking time off.

i should clarify, when i write people doing bad things, it's because i am bad. they are me. more importantly, when you read about those bad things, they also become you. that's how story works. in fact, you are going to think about murder before this skeet ends. how's that feel, sicko.

My five year old has the soul of Orson Welles. We were outside school and he 'put a kiss in my pocket for later.' Extremely touched by this, I gave him two back. He dug out the second one, THEATRICALLY CRUSHED IT IN HIS FIST and said 'one is enough.'
