I think we missed a huge opportunity to normalize masking as a public health tool. We eradicated an entire strain of the flu with Covid prevention measures. Masking shows respect for those around you. It shows solidarity with the disability community. It shows you value long term health.

FND's a pretty terrifying condition to live with. It's still poorly understood compared to other neurological conditions, and there are no pharmaceutical treatmentt. The only real treatment pathway is psychological I'm lucky to have understanding family, friends, and colleagues. Not everyone is.

I think it’s a big problem that most of the public is totally unfamiliar w/one of the worst yet common outcomes from Covid, namely ME/CFS. I often share this Sundance doc bc I think being able to visualize the harm (as we can for, say, polio) makes it easier to understand the desire to mitigate it.

Between menopause and a lengthy Covid-related illness, the brain fog I experience can be very debilitating, affecting my memory and my ability to draw concepts together when I write. Although the other impacts I still occasionally experience can be painful, the brain fog is what upsets me the most.
