R.I.P. Bizarro-Wuxtry, the great indy-supporting comic shop in Athens, GA. I have fond memories of my early signing there and hanging out with manager Devlin Thompson and folks afterward. A loss to the industry and the Athens community. A vital LCS, sad to see it go.

a varied zine haul with a fluke tote at the center. the tote has a drawing of a magician by patrick dean. incl works by josh latta, sooz bagooz, holdinglambs, joey weiser, robert newsome, klon waldrip, scott stripling, and colette arrand.

smaller zine haul since i didn’t pack them all in the same place! an alf zine and a coloring book by jason schoonover (ft my mini alf), some stickers by robert newsome and feond, and mini-zines/pins by jerk press.

morning reading! thrifted this british comics fanzine last week. i had never heard of FA, neptune, or martin skidmore, but i fell in love with his essay about his trip to a comic convention in the US- the way he recounts all the little details is so nerdy and charming and earnest.

FA 106, Britain’s premiere comics fanzine, Sept 88. Cost 65p ($2.25 us, $3.00 ca). the hellblazer tapes, jamie delano, richard piers rayner, mark buckingham. published by neptune comics. cover illustration features a white blonde guy in a black vest hitchhiking out of newcastle. the illustration is signed “rayner 88.”

this was bc I was asked to do a library activity taken from Lynda Barry's Making Comics, so they would have an example. 3 min drawings of: me as an astronaut / me turning into an animal / into a fruit or vegetable/ into a monster. They felt it needed a disclaimer so people wouldn't be intimidated.
