with all respect: i'm losing touch with what AI does because i have no interest in it and it's not my business. nobody worries about me losing touch with developments in particle physics or artificial bull insemination. it's not my fault the richest guys on earth want me to make their toy my life

I eat their queen chickpeas straight from the jar with a dessert spoon. I don't know what they put in them and I don't care. I only know if I don't eat a jar every three days everything is terrible

Pope Leo says AI lacks the "spark of humanity" — and wants artists and the church to fight back
The church and artists must ally, he said, "to safeguard our humanity."

On the way home and deliberately not looking at the foxes who pause when they see me so they think I haven't seen them and they're mad stealthy and sly. I want the local foxes to feel they're good at being foxes

What once was the peak, is now just the beginning.
Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren't rewriting history — we're equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first ho Show

I think we underrate that JCO came up in 20th century New York literary circles where everyone said five most devastating insults before breakfast and as one of the last one standing, her competition is guys who get sad if their chatbot isn't sufficiently nice to them.

Who holds publishers to their promises?
We need accountability for the gap between what publishers promise to authors and what they deliver

Woke up with the realisation that when you say "Taipei Story" aloud it sounds like "Type A Story" and hot diggity damn if that isn't a tremendous introduction to our main character

I'm reading R.F. Kuang's Taipei Story and there's a bit where the MC visits an exhibition comparing steeping tea to the birth of creation: organic matter steeped in primordial soup and life sprang forth, ergo steeping is a genesis. So every time I take a bath, I'm getting back to my primordial roots

I keep having to explain that I don't need something acting as a go-between for me and my life because I'm actually quite keen on living it. It isn't a series of goals to be achieved or completed - everything I do makes up who I am. I don't want to outsource any part of my life to something else

Don't know about yous, but I'm getting a little bored of the "Oh no! Our AI did something completely on its own and it's going to kill us all and the only way to stop it is to give us more money. That's the only way. The one way. Please. More money. You'll definitely get a return, swear down."

I think of this all the time! I work so hard to get my characters into situations where their phones can't help them because they're such a plot-killer if they're fudged around and honestly, so much of this book could have been solved by a secret recording made in a pocket when people gobbed off!

There are three particular scenes where if someone had the brains to use their phone for something other than texting, they'd have had all the evidence they needed to deal with the situation at hand!

I'm going to double fist IKEA hotdogs. Mustard on one, ketchup on the other, and as I sit in front of the interviewer I'll lock eyes with them and slowly press the hotdogs together so the mustard and ketchup mix, before I take a bite from each; an allegory for me and the company coming together

My five year old has the soul of Orson Welles. We were outside school and he 'put a kiss in my pocket for later.' Extremely touched by this, I gave him two back. He dug out the second one, THEATRICALLY CRUSHED IT IN HIS FIST and said 'one is enough.'
