It’s the first day of fall and, like clockwork, we are hearing a golden crowned sparrow singing in our yard this morning! They leave in the spring and they return on the first day of autumn each year. What a marvel!

Big fan of harm reduction models on diet -- most of us won't go vegan but a lot of us will go [or have gone] more vegetarian/less red meat, and I'm an even bigger fan of removing all the subsidies and gifts to the beef industry.

Trump doesn’t force people to do bad things. All he did was show people they could get away with being horrible if they really wanted to, and a lot of powerful people decided they didn’t need to pretend anymore. Especially those in influential positions who could push back but did not.

Home from a wonderful but bittersweet visit to St. John. Got to see and experience more as a visitor than I ever did as a (young mom, new business owner) resident. Shed tears remembering the life I lived there with my late husband, but also smiled plenty seeing our kids enjoy the island he loved.
