JRR Tolkien: You paint that picture of the key scene from the Two Towers where Frodo and Sam fight Gollum? Donato Giancola: Sure did, Ron, real fuckin' sexy just like you asked. JRRT: What.

Genuinely, this is what bothers me the most, it's fundamentally changed my relationship with art where I'm greeting it initially with skepticism and scrutiny, I never want to feel that way about art.

“Give us another chance” is the closest this office has come to admitting wrongdoing (they usually deny, act smug and double down), and it’s just as insincere and pathetic as you’d expect. Do the right thing, America: give Trump and his cronies hell.

Tiff and I got so emotional about the prospect of attending another Zelda concert! We went to one over a decade ago, and that was our first time meeting in person after having been long distance for a year. To attend the 40th anniversary concert in Japan, as a married couple no less?? Magic. 😭

That Zelda Direct was so good, man. Bit gutted we didn’t get any more info about the movie but Ocarina looks unreal (hehe) and it will almost certainly be be the game Tiff and I get our Switch 2 with/for when we finally make the jump!

*incredibly ugly wheezing sound* Jee-sus christ theplaylist.net/paul-schrade...

But speaking this weekend with The Playlist in Venice following the premiere of “The Basics of Philosophy,” Schrader offered a much more revealing explanation for how “Three Guns At Dawn” reached that point.

“I had originally written it about three Black brothers, all of whom are bad guys: a corrupt cop, a drug dealer, and a sexual criminal,” Schrader explained. “And they were all trying to kill each other. And Antoine Fuqua was going to produce it.”

According to Schrader, he and Fuqua then approached actors with the project and ran into a fundamental problem.

“We sent it out to actors, and no Black actors wanted to play in a movie where there are no good Black people,” he said. “And it sort of died. But then AI came along, and I didn’t need Black actors.”

One AI image is one too many. The bloke (I refuse to use the word ‘artist’) whose computer whipped it up should be ashamed of himself, and also asked why he couldn’t just look up actual photos of goddamn New York City. It’s a slap in the face.
