haven't been on this site in probably a year BUT: my book and several others that I really love are currently available for free, and you should pick them up for all your trans reading needs

The degree to which The Neon Demon is for the sickos cannot be overstated

two women in a black room lit by red light

a man drives a car at twilight in Los Angeles while a woman rides with her eyes closed

A woman makes a glamorous entrance through a curtain wall

A woman lies down in the dirt surrounded by grass and flowers

Barely a vaguepost because this happens constantly but I just don't feel like you can put out a submission call for "extreme horror" specifically and then list a bunch of things you don't want in it that you find too far. especially if those things are frequent in the genre

You don’t have to take HRT or get surgeries to be trans, but remember that the anti-trans movement is moving mountains to try and prevent your access to those things—pursuing medical transition in one form or another is a subversive act, not a conformist one.

I find it totally unbearable when a genre story stops dead to have some fantasy princess be like "pronouns are important!" in the most straightforward internet-speak terms possible. On a craft level it destroys momentum and believability, and socially, you aren't reaching anyone that way.

people love to say that they're fine with trans people, they're just "not sure about the sports thing", except as soon as you dig into that they'll start talking about "biological males"

Keith Haring died of AIDS aged 31 on 16 Feb 1990. One of his last works, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS. #LGBTplusHistoryMonth

A square canvas. Only the top corner is filled with Harings distinctive figures, rendered in Lavender, the rest is blank.

will never stop thinking about how the day after the election my cis coworker, who I had very intentionally not come out to, publicly informed me that she was so sorry it was about to get bad for trans people and it must be so hard for me, in a workplace where I've purposefully never said i'm trans

I think a lot of (cis) people simply do not understand that being trans isn’t just a sex thing. The idea that one might transition to be happy (and not purely for sexual gratification) legitimately doesn’t occur to them.
