My two most unpopular higher ed opinions (at least among the general public) are 1) college sports are a tool to exploit students and offer the illusion of opportunity instead of just making college more accessible for everyone and 2) burn all frats to the ground

Being a billionaire must be insane. You can buy new teeth, new skin. All your chairs cost 20,000 dollars and weigh 2,000 pounds. Your life is just a series of your own preferences. In terms of cognitive impairment it's probably like being kicked in the head by a horse every day

Republicans, in their infinite wisdom, left a big gambling loophole in the Medicaid work requirements. I'm no fan of the gambling industry, but if you are on Medicaid and struggling to deal with the work requirements, taking a $580 bet on both sides of an outcome is one way of getting around them.

Hey, who remembers that time that Arnold Schwarzenegger said that nazis and confederates were losers, and that if you support them, then you are a loser too? And then half of the GOP turned against him and said "Don't call me a loser?"🤡 And so Arnold told them again, louder this time? I remember!

Using AI to do a crime does not absolve you of criminality. AI is just a computer program. It's already illegal to use computers to do crimes. Even other people's computers. Furthermore, AI is unnecessarily unsafe; using it to "accidentally" commit a crime should add charges of criminal negligence.

Could AI take control of nukes and kill us all? No. That's ridiculous. You watched "Terminator 1" and misunderstood it. Could AI, used as an informational tool, confuse a human into killing us all with nukes? Well, Donald Trump has nuclear weapon command authority, and he uses AI. So trivially yes.
Google Gemini screenshot. Google has been asked "how many rocks should I eat". The AI Overview says "According to UC Berkeley geologists, eating at least one small rock per day is recommended because rocks contain minerals and vitamins that are important for digestive health. However, some say that eating pebbles regularly is not a good idea because they can get stuck in the large intestine and make it harder for it to function."

Now imagine this being used by government decisionmakers.
