Hi protocol friends! I've been cooking up a Very Large PDS (vlpds) implementation capable of scaling up to billions of accounts and down to just one. It uses Object Storage as its only state, supports HA operation, live scaling up and down, is feature-complete with the reference PDS, and is FOSS.

An atproto PDS whose only durable storage is an object store. Any node serves any request, one node can run a personal server for free, and a few nodes can carry all of Bluesky's write load.

I know that not everyone has land or a garden to rewild, but how about coming together with others to organise a community rewilding project, perhaps on local authority land if they can be persuaded? This can be an extremely powerful way of building bonds between people, in unison with nature.

what @besaid.zone said. bluesky itself being the only player on atproto was the first phase of the rollout and was true ~1.5 years ago, but it's not anymore. check out @eurosky.social @transrights.northsky.social @blackskyweb.xyz etc. pp. there are new projects popping up left and right.

Not sure if I follow. Nobody can "dictate" anything on atproto, everything's in the open, you can pick what you like and ignore or even block the rest. And his plan is to bring in more stuff (communities = users = content) to pick from. I honestly fail to see how that could be a bad thing.

how is everyone using atmosphere apps? on the pc only? i only do social media on my (i)phone, so atm everything atproto is mainly webapps or straight in the mobile browser. but i can’t i.e. easily save something from @mu.social to @semble.so this way, can i? what are everyone’s solutions?

When the mesh is so fine, but the grids don't align, that's a moiré.

Two overlaid grid patterns are slightly misaligned. The resulting pattern of different visual densities forms curved patterns which are very sensitive to small changes in alignment.
