Treating this as an unstoppable race, and accepting the "endgame" of runaway warming, is a reckless gamble that should never be decided in a boardroom alone. Betting on future carbon removal to fix today's emissions requires far more confidence than the evidence supports.

I know this'll ruffle feathers but I agree with this Food/Water watch analysis. Diverting renewable energy away from fossil phase-out and climate adaptation and towards melting graphics card to power chatbots is the formal end of moral purpose for clean technology.
Data Centers With Renewables Aren’t the Answer
So all these power plants and “temporary” turbines are raising power prices and polluting our communities. Why don’t we just power data centers with renewables?

Many data center companies are pledging to (eventually) do just that. But even if these pledges weren’t just empty greenwashing promises, powering data centers with clean energy is utterly unrealistic. It also threatens the progress of our already dangerously slow energy transition.

Continuously powering a 1 GW data center would require nearly 20,000 acres of solar panels or 185,000 acres of onshore wind power. We cannot afford to waste the time, space, or money to build renewables for Big Tech’s profit machines.

Already, data center growth is outstripping available renewable energy supply and redirecting renewables from other industries. It’s drawing urgently needed renewables from existing technologies and resources. We need to focus our renewable energy resources toward thos

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,

Wow, the article starts off straight away by highlighting the already - crystal clear - dead end we find ourselves in. With energy efficiency measures and conventional materials alone, it blows the budget (with it, our climate). Note that in the SMART pathway, new con fades out & reno takes over.
Abstract
The European Union aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent by 2030 relative to 1990 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Yet, translating these targets into pathways for buildings and construction is challenging across diverse national contexts. We model building stocks for the twenty-seven Member States of the European Union and evaluate 4096 life cycle emissions scenarios, considering national capacities. Here we show that, over 2020–2050, achieving these targets would require avoiding 8.53 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, approximately ten years of emissions at 2020 levels. Mostly relying on improving energy efficiency and material production would exceed national capacities by 2.72-billion-ton, 32 percent of the required reduction. A combined approach that also reduces per capita space demand, applies circularity measures, and uses bio‑based materials could achieve an additional 2.19 billion tons within national capacities. For each country, we identify the strategies that maximize projected reductions to inform policy design.3 pathways, named HOPE, COPE, SMART
