I don’t know who decided that if I’m listening to music on my phone and switch to some other app that thinks it wants audio, it should pause my music and take over, even if not actively playing anything. If I want to pause my music, I’ll be the one to do it, thank you.

#RecipeOfTheDay is Apple and Blackberry Kuchen! It’s a yeasted slab of a cake, which you could think of as an autumnally fruited focaccia – sweet, but not too sweet, and perfect for a late breakfast over the weekend so long as you don’t have plans for a big lunch! www.nigella.com/recipes/appl...

Scientists find unexpected recovery in children’s lungs after ULEZ cuts pollution
Researchers expected cleaner air to prevent further damage to children’s lungs, but a major five-year study found London children instead experienced accelerated lung growth and caught up with their peers outside the capital.

Rise in the ‘fake meeting’ - office workers so filled with meetings that they don’t have time to do any actual work, are creating fake meetings in their dairies to stop bosses calling them in for pointless meetings & to enable them to get real work done. www.ft.com/content/0291...

So frustrating that people don't understand the power of compound interest. Someone sat opposite me on the train whose clearly 18/20 talking about wanting to withdraw the £1,000 in their pension and not understanding what that will grow to.

With the fuel duty rise being postponed again isn't it time that the OBR refuses to recognise and future tax increase until it actually happens. Every fiscal event it gets included as a budget measure and makes the books look better and time and time again it gets postponed.

As we lose the final episodes of Doctors from BBC iPlayer what is really telling is how much drama especially UK originated has been lost from TV especially when you remember we lost Holby City and it's replacement is a few series of Waterloo Road and that last series was burnt across four weeks.

I don't think enough people talk about how great BBC Bitesize is. Secondary school textbooks are now vanishingly rare and Bitesize content is (a) not in a terrible app, (b) engaging and interesting and easy to understand, and importantly (c) FREE. A properly great digital public good.

Today is going to be a scorcher of a #heatwave in parts of the UK To stay safe remember to: - Seek shade - Dress lightly - Drink plenty of water - Wear SPF if you go out To keep your house cool, it may seem counterintuitive but, keep windows, curtains and blinds shut - keep the heat out.
