I love it when privately-educated people just blithely announce to you that "I didn't grow up wealthy, my parents just made sacrifices" like, ok m8, what sacrifices were my parents supposed to make? How much can you really get for a pre-owned burgundy Renault 19?

I don’t think I’m ever going to get the appeal of pivoting to video for podcasts. I’ve been listening to podcasts for 20 years, and never once have I thought, my God, I need to SEE these people! I’m on a walk or doing the dishes, I don’t need video.

1. Tonight at Gillette Stadium, Zach Bryan, one of the biggest country music artists in the world, wore a Free Palestine shirt onstage. Gillette Stadium is owned by Robert Kraft, who pushed Ed Sheeran and his promoter to drop Macklemore from his tour. Bryan isn’t just a major country artist.

It really doesn't make sense to attribute those job losses to AI-the-technology, because if that were the case we'd be observing AI outputs displacing conventional entertainment products, and they're clearly not. Rather, the impact of AI is that AI-the-business is crowding out other investment.

I paid my student loan (a hefty $90k thanks to interest being applied from day one) and I would happily support a government paying off other people’s student loans. Just because I don’t benefit directly from the policy doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen.

Can I have some legitimate concerns please? Hello, UK government, I have a legitimate concern that temperatures will rise to a level that destroys many already-struggling nations, leading us in to an era of food scarcity wars. And now we wait for Andy Burnham to act on my legitimate concerns😎

I don't disagree with the thread below but frame it somewhat differently as an academic who regularly sees people who read for a living fail in the way described here. From that perspective it seems more a cultural crisis than an educational one

If you want to understand why ADHD diagnoses in the UK currently appear to be increasing, the following data explain it. The best estimates are that around 5% of people globally actually have ADHD. However, in the UK, only 3.4% of children and 1.8% of adults have a formal diagnosis.

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.
Nichole Hiltz
The Democrats defend the Kennedy Center but not trans people.
A building.

@treewarrior.bsky....
maybe because defending everything about a super small minority of the population is not worth losing to fascists

Oh I've only got through the first 4. I feel like Tim Robinson's prior work approaches social and status anxiety at a Kafka level and weirdly this element ameliorates the tension of the central mystery somewhat

Yeah my partner covered Veronica Mars for a recap podcast and it feels as if it should have been able to be much better, that was mid oughts. The Ferengi, oof. Maybe they were just going for a satire of free market capitalism and weren't aware how that might come across with prosthesis

I agree that it’s kind of a throwback. I think some things - like Harry supporting the status quo - can broadly be supported by the idea that the status quo in world is meant to be Not That Bad. I think she thought she was doing a certain thing with SPEW that misfired tbh, but maybe that’s generous

Many years ago - before the full extent of her monstrous bigotry and ego was revealed - I asked my Facebook friends what was good about her writing. Don’t get me wrong - I liked reading those books, but when I tried to break down why I struggled. It was pretty interesting to hear people’s replies.

I’m not assuming this will crash and burn but it’s sort of hilarious having this amount of faith in your mediocre characters and world. Obviously the reason is that they were hugely popular and made you rich, so it’s not baseless, but they are mediocre.

Not only did I meet Robert Kraft, I worked for him. His kid Jonathan asked me to “remove the black music” from my gameday playlist in ‘94 & I refused so they fired me. I was the cheerleader director at the time. I sued them for wrongful termination and won. So yes, I know that motherfucker.
