"If you get better, we dismiss your case" is a profoundly ignorant approach to recovery. There is no causal relationship between scary threats and a person's recovery from a brain disease, nor do people who talk like this ever explain how threatening someone into recovery supposedly works.

The daughter in the happy-family-photo here, Katherine Kang, is currently the campaign manager for Julie Kang. So @sound-transit.bsky.social has just been deceived into plastering up a photo of a political candidate AND their campaign manager using our public dollars, just before the D5 election.

USC Gould J.D. Candidate 2mo • Edited •

After graduation, I flew home to Seattle and stepped into one of the most meaningful opportunities of my life. After nearly a decade of canvassing, phone banking, and volunteering on political campaigns, I'm now serving as Campaign Manager for Julie for Seattle. Every day, I have the privilege of knocking on doors across District 5, creating campaign content, coordinating our incredible volunteer team, and connecting with neighbors who care deeply about their community. It has been surreal to see our yard signs across the district and to read The Seattle Times endorsement. With ballots arriving next week and the primary just around the corner, I'm excited to keep applying everything I've learned over the past three years while continuing to grow through this experience. https:// Inkd.in/gSh_XTrU

@sound-transit.bsky.social, could someone explain why you put a big photo of District 5 City Council Candidate Julie Kang at the newly opened Pinehurst Station? This is an outrageous use of public resources. This photo needs to be taken down, or at least covered up, until after the election.

I'm surprised that someone at Sound Transit didn't realize she's a candidate. But certainly Julie Kang knows that & everyone knows public funds and public facilities cannot be used to promote a candidate in any way. So why did she do this...and use it in her campaign? This poster needs to come down!

Hoping D5 voters are noticing Kang's pattern here. Although I can bet most don't have time to read the previous PDC complaints. Kang is loose on ethics and steps over election rules, then she says oh, gee, I didn't know. It's tiresome. D5 deserves a city councilmember who knows! Vote Nilu!

While I loathe surveillance, this story is misleading. Police have been talking about a program described as secret in this piece since last year (I reported on it), so the use of private cameras by the city isn't some breaking scandal (though it should be a scandal in general IMO).

Seattleites deserve efficient, reliable, and affordable public transit. That's why I was honored to emcee the opening of the Pinehurst Link station earlier this week. Haller Lake, Bitter Lake, Lake City, and other North Seattle communities…

Just reading up on the city budget (been on vacation). There are a number of strange errors and misconstruals in the Seattle Times' coverage, including a reference ot "Seattle's income tax" (we don't have one) and spending outpacing revenue in a worsening economy (that's not what caused the deficit)

Mayor's "Fair and
Transparent Pricing_ill likely to raise grocery store prices
UFCW-backed CB 121267 would preserve grocery store worker jobs but could result in higher grocery store prices and the elimination of online and in-store discounts.
STAKES
So who benefits? Primarily UFCW 3000. It takes a lot of time and labor to change traditional shelf prices by hand so this is really a job (and member dues) protection effort.
STAKES
Who loses? Grocery shoppers and residents.
Here's why: 1) Grocery stores will bear the additional cost of compliance requirements (including strict record-keeping and disclosures) and could get caught up in lengthy, expensive lawsuits - and those costs will be passed on to consumers in higher prices. 2) Stores could also discontinue loyalty-club discounts because the bill's exclusionary language is too vague to risk the legal exposure - so no more discounts at the register. 3) Seattleites could end up living in food deserts after their neighborhood grocery store shuts its doors because the higher operational costs and the risk of said lawsuits wasn't worth their 1-
3% margins.

Big win for Seattle consumers 🛒 Today we passed Fair Pricing legislation, banning companies from using your personal data to charge you more than the person next to you. Same product, same store, same price — no matter who’s pushing the cart.
Photo of a bag of groceries with the text “Seattle Becomes First City to Ban Algorithmic Price Fixing”"Food is an essential good that's getting more expensive all the time," said Mayor Katie Wilson.
"People have been clear: they don't want their data fed into algorithms that decide how much they pay at the grocery store.
Everyone deserves transparent pricing and equal treatment, not hidden systems that charge some shoppers more than others.”
