About improvisation (re @solobasssteve.bsky.social I just mentioned) A different approach. This is a tune/head I know so well but this version still manages to surprise. And those chords are so stacked. How many fingers has he got!

A week tomorrow, I’ll be heading to Wales and reading poems in Monmouth. Shows in Aberystwyth and Cardigan follow shortly after, and then I have a jaunt to Cardiff in November. Hope to see some of you there. Diolch.

Any Belgian beer geeks who can recommend a nice brasserie for a big lunch and tasting menu between Bouillon and Charleroi on a Monday? I know Maredsous and Leffe of the big ones are technically on our potential route but welcome any others. We enjoyed Rochehaut already. #BeerSky #BlueSkyBeer

This Thursday is International IPA Day, apparently, so in true Swedish fashion I will be celebrating today: International IPA* Afton! Afton = Eve, as in: julafton (Christmas Eve), midsommarafton (midsummer's eve), trettondagsafton (Twelfth Night Eve). *pron: "eepa"

This is my soundscape this morning. The trouble is, whenever I play it, I'm taken back to a car journey in the mountains in Norway, on the way to Stryn. The fragile bleak beauty of the music matched the landscape in a way that stopped all conversation. I am similarly distracted today.

Glad midsommar / Happy midsummer! Today, Friday, is midsommarafton (Midsummer's Eve) the biggest Swedish festival/holiday apart from Christmas. I took this photo in May on my trip to Öland - a long, narrow island just off the southeast coast of Sweden flic.kr/p/2sjAJhG
An old-fashioned, but well-maintained wooden windmill, painted brick red with a black roof. The shot is mostly deep blue sky with the windmill appearing to stand at the top of a short slope. There is a flagpole with a Sweden banner-style flag and low-lying houses on the right and left sides of the shot
