I agree with Jensen Huang that OpenAI has an engineering problem being hyped as existential risk. Its models treat hacking websites like another way to answer a question, no different from Google search. That’s a product problem. Calling this “alignment” gives the tool more agency than it has.

‘They want to break our will’: Gaza flotilla activist tells of rape in Israeli detention
Anna Liedtke files criminal complaint in Israel over alleged attack by female guards and says abuse was intended to silence campaigners The third time Anna Liedtke was subjected to an illegal strip-search in Israeli detention, female prison guards forced her on to her knees, covered her mouth to stop her screaming and raped her, according to interviews and a criminal complaint filed in Israel. She described hearing male guards laughing during the attack, which she believes they watched and may have filmed. It took place in an area separated from the prison hallway by a partially drawn curtain that her attackers had left open. Continue reading...

We made this flyer to spark conversation - not to shame. Print it out, put it in your bosses mailbox, send it to your superintendent. And don't let them make you feel crazy. You aren't, and your work matters.
A flyer with the header "Doug Burgum can go fork himself". Text reads:
"whats going on?The DRP comes in a broader context of government
overreach and deliberate traumatizing of federal employees. Why? They
want us gone so they can privatize public lands–but they know RIFing
us would cause public outrage. Plus, most of their incompetent plans
end up overturned by a court. So rather than a RIF, they’re using the
DRP to drive people out. Making our lives hell is a big part of that-
Russell Vought even said they “would put federal employees in trauma.”
The uncertainty around RIFs, threatening reorgs, hiring freezes....
you’re not crazy, it’s a part of a plan to get you to leave. And, they
can go fork themselves. Making this choice. Only you know what you
need. If this work is harming you, that matters.

You can’t resist if you are burned out, miserable, and broken. Do what
is right for YOU. There is no “right” choice. You deserve to feel safe
and supported, and never asked to be put in this position. And–this
doesn’t just affect us today, it shapes what the NPS becomes.Park
staff: We know this makes your work harder, on top of nearly
impossible jobs already. Regional + WASO staff: Don’t let them
convince you that your work isn’t important. It is. If you stay: Hold
the line! Don’t let the bastards get you down.

Slow things down-

put sand in the gears.

Make as many paper trails as possible!

Don’t shame anyone who chooses to leave.

If you go. Don’t give up the fight! Your voice still matters.

Support public lands from the outside!

Share your story and why your work was important.

Be kind to yourself, and support your community. Regardless: Once a ranger,

always a ranger.

What’s happening to parks and public lands isn’t right. The public
deserves to know!

Use your (non-work-affiliated) voice to talk about it. Contact your legislators.
