SNOLAB in Sudbury, Canada sits 2,092 metres underground in an active nickel mine, the deepest clean room laboratory in the world. At that depth, the 2 km of rock above blocks cosmic rays that would otherwise overwhelm the detectors used to search for dark matter and study neutrinos.

⛽️ "Premium" 91 (95 in EU rating) octane gasoline in the US is considered a regular in Europe, that's why cars like Mercedes or BMW have "premium unleaded only" on the filler door, because the regular US would be too low for the engine.

For decades, Skewes’ Number was the largest number ever used in a serious math proof. It’s roughly 10^10^10^34 – a number so large it exceeds the total number of atoms in the observable universe, several times over.

Petrol in North America has a lower octane rating than the rest of the world because the US and Canada have a stricter way of measuring it. "Regular" gasoline sold in the US as 87 octane would actually be considered 92 in the rest of the world and "midgrade" fuel sold as 89 octane would be 95.

When jumpstarting a car, you should connect the negative clamp to an unpainted part of the engine block rather than the negative battery post on the dead car. Otherwise if a spark occured it could ignite the hydrogen gas emitted by the lead acid battery.
