i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

I fully blame the A Rape on Campus story for this. Once that came out discredited, everyone decided that it wasn't actually a problem, at the time, myself included because I was stupid. But between the lines, a woman was believed and her story told and we learned the wrong lessons from the fallout.

This is so old news the main scandal with Orélien now is no longer the alleged use of AI but his decade long history of plagiarism uncovered by actual journalists (that ironically might be a bigger proof of AI use for his latest book!)

He told one Onision survivor he was sending her laptop containing evidence to the FBI, but it sat with his assistant instead. He told Dahvie Vanity survivors he could help them. He didn’t. Just a few months ago, the FBI closed its investigation into Vanity without any charges. 21 women came forward.
