Fans will be annoyed about the fan and the HR, but it mattered because we played like bozos the rest of the series. Play even a little competently in games 1 and 2 and this one would not have been the end. As it stands, can't be sad to see the back of any of these guys. Roll on 2027.

It is actually very serene and sublime to behold when your team is not on the receiving end of his magic.

This is what happened in 2018 on the night, where it was being covered initially as "disappointing" because Beto didn't close when in fact it was a huge blue wave.

Poor Ben Rice, who has yet to put a toe wrong in this postseason, and is getting no support at all from the rest of the team. No sympathy for anybody else, whole rest of this squad got what was coming to them playing Little League level in the big leagues.

As noted by others, they could use audio guides (as in Bayeux), or moving walkways (as in Tower of London) to pace. But I would shout out as a third approach the way the @tcddublin.bsky.social displays the Book of Kells: similarly one object, in restricted lighting, that folks want to crowd around.

As an academic and journalist, I think falsifying archival records in this way is also professional malpractice. A future historian viewing a film from the archive in 2050 should know if the object they are viewing was made in 1996 or 2026. You cannot falsely catalog the latter as the former.

Worried about my friend the investigative journalist Micah Reddy, who seems to have gone missing in Djibouti. He and his family are in my thoughts.
Photo of Micah with the text:
Urgent alert 🚨: Roshan Micah Reddy, a #southafrican journalist and the #ICJI’s Africa coordinator, has gone missing in Djibouti.
He was staying at the Escale International Hotel and had been in $Djibouti since Thursday. The ICJI and the editorial team at his newspaper have had no news of him since 6.00 am (Eastern Time) this morning. He was accompanied by a local contact named Kooki Mahmoud, of whom there is also no news.
A missing person report has been filed with the #British and South African governments.
According to our information, the hotel is believed to be owned by members of the family of djiboutian President Ismaël Omar Guelleh and is known to be a stronghold of the djiboutian secret services.

This is desperately sad. I was lucky enough to see Spring Awakening in its original run. It comes up often when teaching reproductive rights to students. A searing masterpiece about being young in a broken world that gets sadly more relevant with each passing year. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/18/a...

I am intrigued by people surprised by this letter. There is a common aesthetic fallacy where people expect progressive artists to be "edgy" and end up surprised by the edgy artists with bad politics (e.g. Kanye) and by the normie artists with good politics, like Macklemore.

I've posted before about a "local" 9/11, how I experienced it in lower Manhattan as a trauma of lost lives, ill health and environmental destruction and how detached I often feel from its geopolitical meaning because for those first weeks, we really weren't focused on that locally.

I credit that journalist's curiosity with her capacity to adapt, to expand the intersectional scope of her feminist solidarity. Many of her contemporaries did not stay curious that way, but she kept listening and so she grew.
