The framework extends beyond simple cycles: with higher-dimensional coupling matrices the network can encode an extensive number of chaotic attractors, not just limit cycles, described similarly by our mean-field theory for both a single and uniform eigenphases

But if eigenvalues spread uniformly around the unit circle, most of that destructive feedback cancels The network reduces to a simple single-spin process, and capacity is amplified, beating the classic Hopfield memory capacity (≈0.27 vs 0.138)

We derive a dynamical mean-field theory showing memory capacity is governed by the eigenphase spectrum of the coupling matrices. If every stored attractor shares the same eigenphase, self-interactions and noise reinforce destructively, so capacity collapses once attractors start oscillating

New preprint! Classic Hopfield networks store fixed points, static memories. Real neural circuits combine many oscillatory rhythms at once. Can one network memorize many distinct dynamical attractors? We show: yes, extensively 🌀 🧵👇 arxiv.org/abs/2609.07341
