We can learn from our queer elders 🫶🏻
bisubites 4h
when my masc lesbian aunt died, women just kept coming, screaming, crying, and saying they were her wives. Eventually we just had to start telling them to join the others. They were all devastated to learn about each other. Except for one who came in, kissed her dead mouth and showed us all that they had matching tattoos. She actually won all the mourning wives over and they all agreed she was the wife. It was so weird.Did not expect more than a few people to see this but yes it really happened, yes it was insane

Merchant Adventurers’ Hall @merchantshallyork.org · 07/08/2026
The Forest of Galtres was established by Norman Kings and spread North from York's walls. It covered 100,000 acres and encompassed 60 villages. As early as 15th century concerns were expressed about deforestation and by 1629 it had all but disappeared. The Hall is its legacy.
We are looking at the Great Hall and its soaring oak framed roof. It is a sunny day so the light can be seen coming through the Georgian sash windows and making puddles of sunlight on the pine floors. The roof glows in a warm brown colour.

An illustration titled House Martins, Sand Martins & Swallows by Charles Tunnicliffe, famous for Ladybird. A massive gathering of migratory birds congregating on a village rooftop: dozens of swallows, house martins, and sand martins are shown resting along a bright red-orange ridge tile, while others cover the gray slate roof tiles below. In the background, a long line of birds sits tightly packed along parallel overhead utility wires, stretching across a pale blue sky dotted with white and gray clouds. A small church or chapel building with a prominent bellcote sits nestled behind the house.Beyond this, a rolling green countryside landscape fades into the distance.

I actually know the answer to this and it's slightly insane. Google pulls from Wikipedia to determine if a place is a city, town, neighbourhood, whatever. Brighton's first line describes it as a "seaside resort" so Google Maps thinks it's a neighbourhood and doesn't display it in the "city" font.
