MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 26/09/2026This is very, very cool. Thanks for making it! 010
MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I also recall from when I was experimenting with them that I had to manual author the UV2 maps as the packing algorithm for the UV2 auto-generation would sometimes rotate faces in ways which were super obvious in low res. So texels on a floor might be at 45 degrees compared to an adjacent wall. 010
MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 26/09/2026For lowres lightmaps it strikes me that it should be as good as Quake's as a baseline but when I previously tested it at a similar resolution it certainly wasn't. 140
MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 23/09/2026The helplessness is the genuinely worrying thing. That's how they get you. I sometimes feel like we're living in the prologue to a classic dystopian sci-fi novel about the loss of individuality. 160

MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Oooo, this sounds intriguing, it does feel like it might need a ground-up rewrite. After trying to use it for low resolution lightmaps I discovered that there seem to be two PRs that have created fundamental alignment issues that weren't there originally github.com/godotengine/...github.comLightmapGI producing incorrect, misaligned lightmaps · Issue #112768 · godotengine/godotTested versions Reproducible in: 4.1.2.stable onwards (though not identically) Not reproducible in 4.1.1.stable and earlier System information Godot v4.5.1.stable - Windows 10 (build 19045) Issue d... 131

MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Well I really don't like the character art style in the OoT remake. It has a weird uncanny valley plastic doll look to me. 110
MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 07/09/2026I am so very tired of *gestures broadly*. Maybe trying to make commercial indie games in times like these is a fools errand unless you have an established audience. Especially when there are competitors willing to embrace the plagiarism machines to shortcut much of the effort. This timeline sucks. 150
MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Maybe no one cares but if you're a low poly artist doing character stuff I am very interested in collabs of any kind. Please get in touch. 063

The tech industry has insisted that AI would make workers’ lives easier and more productive, that the more people understood and used AI, the more they would like it. Something closer to the opposite has happened.bloodinthemachine.comWhy office workers are turning against AIWhether or not you like AI at work ultimately boils down to a question of power. 201548454

I think it's impossible to underestimate the temptation that many [especially older] programmers seems to have for wanting a solution that will make their lives "easier" and fill a hole in their heart. 48731

MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 01/09/2026This is the thing I find genuinely disturbing because it seems to mean that a lot of people who outwardly appear to be passionate about something aren't actually. All they care about is the end result, not the process, not the struggle. 010

MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Just watched the GTA trailer and my overriding thought is isn't it rather icky to be able to hurt and kill random innocents like shopkeepers in that level of fidelity? Older entries clearly weren't real life and had tongue firmly in cheek but this feels more serious tonally and that feels odd to me. 220

MachineScreen @machinescreen.bsky.social · 23/07/2026This does happen on some marketplaces (not video game related). The example I know of does it based on sales. So if a product doesn't sell at least once within a 12 month period it is removed. I reckon something like this could work well with Steam. 020
