@jpawlik.com shares with us their feelings about sketch-booking. The traditional media and tactile experience of putting pen to paper. Read this PLEDGE DRIVE EXCLUSIVE comic when you join our Patreon! www.patreon.com/posts/bonus-...
Jey Pawlik explores sketch booking in this five-page bonus comic. Jey draws in teals and greens with a scratchy inked line and a creative use of negative space.

Jey is sitting legs wide and semi crossed, they say “I LOVE sketchbooks!” as they close the sketchbook in their hands with a quiet “Another one finished!”

Jey runs across the page, holding the pages from the sketchbook above their head, pages flying all around them. They say “I’m just such a sucker for physical media, something I can hold in my hands and own. Like 'I made this, this is mine!' feels so real to me.”
Jey stands next to their bookshelf, filled with older sketchbooks and continues “I love fine-tuning my process and the tools I use, and keeping an archive of all the fun art I’ve ever done. However, –”
Jey sits down next to the bookshelf, saying “Lately, I found I’m not sketching as much as I used to.”

Their face looks more downtrodden as they ask to themself, “Why? What changed?”

Happy 13th Birthday to Oh Joy Sex Toy! Join our Patreon Pledge Drive this month for BONUS COMICS and to keep the site going for one more year! www.patreon.com/OhJoySexToy
Erika draws with a bouncy, cartoony style and uses a color palette of warm yellows, oranges, and reddy-pinks.

"Ahh, summer again!" Exclaims Erika, a white cis middle-age woman in beach attire, which is appropriate since she and her crew are walking on a sandy beach.

Ahead of her walks Ziggy, a trans man in his 40s with a heavily tattooed arm, gauged ears, and a septum piercing. He wears big round glasses, a Pokemon trainer's baseball hat, swim trunks and a tank top while toting in more beach supplies under his arms.

He adds, "That means sunshine, BBQs, and celebrating-"

"Oh Joy Sex Toy's 13th Birthday!" reads the text on a giant beach umbrella that Matt stakes into the sand. He is a devastatingly handsome white cis British man with salt and pepper hair who has just crossed the threshold into his 40s. He wears square-ish glasses, a t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers.

"We invite you all to chip in to our annual Pledge Drive and support the site this month!" Matt continues.
"For the price of a fancy coffee-"

"(or tea)" Erika interrupts.

"(or kombucha!)" Adds Ziggy.

"-you keep the site going AND get access to a bunch of BONUS COMICS that we've been cooking up this last few months.*" Finishes Matt with an iced coffee in his hands while Erika and Ziggy rest under the umbrella, each holding up their own iced tea and kombucha.

Caption: *In addition to all the previous years' extra stories if you haven't read them yet.
The scene shifts from the beach to show samples of the bonus comics, under a ribbon banner labeled "Preview"

Caption: Ripley LaCross travels through a backpacking retrospective. Hien Pham tackles Hourly Comic Day. Jey Pawlik explores what sketchbooks mean to them.
Surfing in on a wave of comic pages, Matt says, "Last year, we had to consider closing... but with our successful Pledge Drive, instead you all helped us raise our rates to commission 27 new and returning guest artists to publish 52 comics for the site, which now has... gosh, 680 comics, all available for free to the folks who need them."

A pride flag with every color band represented by a NASA image. 🌈 Let's Get Tested! ✨ Read the full comic: www.ohjoysextoy.com/lets-get-tes... What does STI testing look like in Australia? Why would I want to get tested? Why wouldn't I? Read all about my STI check-up in the latest @ohjoysextoy.bsky.social comic made in collaboration with WAAC and M Clinic 💖✨!!
A digital comic page rendered in a lighthearted semi-realistic cartoony style.

Panel 1: A chubby balding Asian man with glasses (Hien) sits in a small clinic office opposite a nurse with short wavy blonde-ish brown hair (Peter), scruffy facial hair, and blue eyes.

Hien: I'm ready for my STI screening! I feel fine, but it'd be nice to have peace of mind!
Peter: You're doing the right thing!

Panel 2: close-up on Peter's face as he smiles and nods.

Peter: You know, the majority of infections we detect at M Clinic are in asymptomatic folks. That's why regular testing is key!
Hien: Right!

Panel 3: Side shot of both of them conversing. Peter puts one hand to his chin while Hien does an affirmative fist pump!

Peter: Usually, we'd chat about your sexual history and determine what tests would be right for you... But, if you're after a thorough screening, may I recommend the whole suit of tests?
Hien: I'm down!

Panel 4: long shot of the outside of the M Clinic building. It's a small and unassuming with certain walls painted in the M Clinic signature deep sky blue. A man is seen stepping out of the building while whistling. The title of the comic "Let's Get Tested!" splashes across the panel. "Read the full comic on OhJoySexToy.com" caption lays below it. A small speech bubble with a little Hien head pops out of the corner: "Made in collaboration with WAAC and M Clinic!"

I keep seeing people say, "Natives didn't own the land, they were just caretakers." That's not some deep insight. That's just a misunderstanding dressed up as a fact. You're using a colonial definition of ownership and acting like it's the only one that exists. Let me put it in simple terms. You say *my mom, my dad, my kids, my family.* You don't "own" them like property, but they are yours in the sense that there's connection, responsibility, and belonging. That word "my" doesn't mean control. It means relationship. That's how our people understood land. When we say it's our land, we're not talking about owning it like a piece of real estate you can buy, sell, or destroy. We're talking about being tied to it, through history, through culture, through survival. We belong to it, and it belongs to us. That's not a weaker form of ownership. If anything, it's deeper. So no, we didn't lack ownership. We rejected the idea that land is just a commodity. And let's be honest: just because your ancestors needed paper and fences to feel like something was theirs doesn't mean we didn't already have something stronger long before that.
