On point B, the NASA Exoplanet Archive typically serves ~10-20TB of data per month. In July it jumped to 70TB. In August it jumped to 600TB. So either our user base organically grew *30x* in two months (... unlikely), OR the bots have taken over already.

Games with multiple rulebooks ("player handbook" + "GM handbook" sorta deal) often put the sample adventure in the GM handbook, which is generally less of a "reference book", and so that works well.

Ludovic Chabant @ludovic.chabant.com · 17h
YES TOO I guess some counter arguments are: "once you played the sample adventure, that's X pages lost from an otherwise evergreen reference book you'd use all the time when playing that game", hence the argument for making it a free PDF that doesn't take space or cost extra to print.

I’m looking into Ghost for a new website I’m working on… It’s annoying that it doesn’t support password authentication or footnotes, but a big blocker is no asset/media management to re-use images and not get duplicates. People have been asking for it for the past 7 years. Ugh.

Reusing images and avoiding multiple uploads of the same file
Hello, I was wondering how it’s possible to reuse existing (uploaded) images in other posts and, more importantly, as og:image (Facebook) and as “post image”. Actually, when you go to these settings, it just lets you upload an image from computer, making you upload the same file twice (once inside the post and then as post image). Also, if you click on the recycle bin and remove the image, the only way to put it again is… to reupload it. I don’t know if there are solutions, but the actual syst...

KamCon last week-end isn’t just TTRPGs: there’s also a big chunk of board games, wargames, video games, cosplay, and other nerdy stuff. But this time there was also a pinball tournament! I didn’t enter, but I played the D&D pinball which is crazy, it has a branching storyline!
Pinball machines at KamCon: Avengers, Foo Fighters, and D&D. The D&D one off course has a dragon, but also a gelatinous cube, a kobold mine, and a bunch of fun things.

There are a couple of quotes in this which have blown me away! "The whole system has been put together and very obviously playtested thoroughly, if only all rule books were so well written!" "As a historical based TTRPG this is one of the best out there and deserves to be played at more tables."

DVDs aren't low-tech. They're just things you can actually own, that won't disappear overnight, that don't require a monthly subscription, that won't suddenly get reedited, that won't start putting adverts in the middle and that won't sell your data to the worst people in the world.

The books have less plot threads at the beginning (only Holden and Miller are in the first book, Avasarala shows up in book 2 only IIRC) but the first book is also a bit slow at first before it gets going, I almost stopped but glad I didn’t. So it’s not just the TV adaptation…
