TTRPG question; when is a good time to run a session? I like to play on evenings, pretty much any day, as it's a great way to close the day. What works for you? AM or PM? A weekday evening? A Friday or a Saturday night, or on a Sunday afternoon or night to round your weekend off? Or just whenever?

I'm really enjoying the third season of House of the Dragon. That first episode was a gut punch and it just spiralled from there. Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith are amazing in their roles. I know I'm going to end up doing a GoT and AKofSK rewatch. I love it.

Back to the day job. I do enjoy it - I'm a fully qualified health and safety advisor - but I spend much of my time thinking about my creative writing. I always dreamed of being part of an in-house writing team when I was a kid but I'm not sure that kind of thing even exists anymore.

I'm adapting my Short Trek game to something inspired by Trek but keeping the action adventure theme of TOS series. Basically, TOS with the serial numbers filed off. I'm going to create a single book of 1-page rules, a starship, and a load of 1-page adventures. Anyway, this is WIP and all that.

A Star Trek TTRPG from the mid-90s that was pretty good was Prime Directive from Task Force Games. Set in the alternate Star Fleet Battles universe, it was a neat game that focused on away teams as special forces. It had a lot of character and played quite well, but I converted it to the D6 System.

I'm really feeling the Larson-class starship. The Original Star Trek version is cool but the Lost Era is a beauty. It just seems light a smooth and neat design, with a tight crew. I'd use this in my Lost Era TTRPG campaign for sure.

Do I like 'modern' Star Trek. Yeah, kinda. - I liked the last 2 seasons of Discovery, I preferred it in the far future. - SNW is good and the episodes are fun. - Academy was good with some neat ideas. - Lower Decks is really good and Prodigy was entertaining. - Picard S3 was awesome, but I'm biased.

I had to fight for my copy a couple of years ago - I got it on eBay for a song and I had to wait on and then chase the seller for 4 months before I finally got it. I'd reached my 'just get a refund and move on' limit and just wanted my book. They even tried the 'oh, I thought I'd posted it' thing.

I still want to run this. I'm curious about The Lost Era of Star Trek. I'd love the opportunity to explore the quadrant post-Praxis disaster as the Federation and the Empire try to come to terms with the new political situation. There'd be dissent on both sides with the Romulans stirring things up.

I've had some more thoughts on this; I want to change the title of the game to 'Away Team' and have it specifically for small-party missions to worlds or other vessels. Basically a Star Trek-themed one-shot dungeon crawl game, with one page maps/adventures for the teams to experience.

I love skeleton warriors. There's something compelling about them, like they're fighting out of spite of your spark of life. This stems from one of my favourite movies Jason and the Argonauts, and the fact it was the first foe I defeated in my very first D&D game in 1984. Art by Henrik Karppinen.
