2/3 The study finds LLMs can help with synthesis, triage, and drafting, supporting moderators in practical tasks. But trust, judgment, and community care remain deeply human work. Moderation is social infrastructure, not just classification, and current models still struggle with that.

1/3 How should LLMs support the people who keep online communities healthy? A new paper by Domingo et al., Care, Wisdom, and Civics, explores how LLMs can assist volunteer moderators on Reddit and where today’s models still fall short. Moderation is not just filtering content. It is civic labor.
