Canadian boycott of US products pushes grocers to adapt, explore new supply sources
A growing consumer push to buy Canadian and boycott U.S. products is reshaping supermarket shelves in Canada, forcing grocers to improve country-of-origin labeling and secure new sources of supply.

Generative AI could produce an analogous form of cultural homogenization, but at a much deeper level. Instead of merely making places look alike, it could make our ideas, language, images, stories and even ways of solving problems converge.

If millions of people ask the same handful of AI systems to write, design, brainstorm or explain, the systems may continually steer us toward what is statistically familiar, polished and broadly acceptable. The result may be a world in which everything is excellent & increasingly indistinguishable.

That is the paradox: AI can make individual expression easier while potentially making collective expression more alike. The danger isn't that AI will make us stupid. It may be more subtle: it could make us vanilla. But people like vanilla.🍦

I commend the amazing Camrose students protesting rape culture, which appeared in peers’ misogynistic and violent online chats. The manosphere is leaving its mark on a society that already normalizes violence vs women, girls, BIPOC and gender-diverse individuals, and more. Way to speak out!

One of the things that is so positive about the transformation of Paris is it was FAST. Converting a choked polluted city into a space for humans to thrive, move, and enjoy can be done within a decade. It’s within reach today: we just have to elect leaders that care about people more than cars.

I’m stunned at how little Louis Theroux’s ‘Inside the Mansophere’ documentary actually has to say of value or interest about the manosphere and how, in the film, some PUA-inspired influencers become a stand in for a far more variegated network with multiple group identities.
